Jacksonville hospital ends ER and medical services

Unity Health Jacksonville, the only hospital in the city, closed its emergency room and medical-surgical unit on Wednesday and will become a psychiatric hospital, and Democrats are blaming Republicans for it. The move comes only three years after the $36 million hospital opened, providing a 13-bed emergency department and a 24-bed behavioral health unit. A financial report the hospital filed early last year said the facility lost almost $10 million in 2024.

Little Rock City Board approves citywide curfew earlier than planned

The Little Rock City Board voted unanimously to pass a citywide youth curfew at a special called meeting Tuesday afternoon in light of a shooting downtown that left a 21-year-old injured. Under this new rule, youth under 18 will have a curfew of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. every day starting this Friday, April 17, and lasting until Tuesday, Sep. 8, which tightens the current weekend curfew of 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. This matches the curfew the city implemented last summer.

Little Rock City Board likely to impose youth curfew earlier than expected

The Little Rock City Board of Directors is expected to vote on implementing a youth curfew starting this Friday to run through Sep. 6, in the aftermath of a shooting this weekend that prompted city leaders to consider new security measures. The city announced yesterday that Mayor Frank Scott Jr. would ask the board to support the curfew for youth under 18.
