Opinion | A letter from Bobby Orr: My former coach and dear friend, Don Cherry, deserves this award
It was my great pleasure to submit this nomination to the Broadcaster’s Association despite the fact that historically the award has only been given to play-by-play people or colour commentators. But given Don’s unparalleled accomplishments over his 38-year broadcasting career, I felt he was deserving. So did many, many other people. In addition to Mr. Arthur, some of the game’s greatest players and personalities have lined up to support this nomination.

The exposure it produced for our great game is a credit to all those individuals involved in its creation and implementation. Hats off to all the players who were so committed to their respective homelands and the game of hockey in general. These were not mere exhibition games – these were games with great meaning. Congratulations one and all.

Fifty years ago today, Bobby Orr scored one of the most iconic goals in NHL history
When we’re talking about the most iconic photos in NHL history, there still might not be anything that rivals Bobby Orr’s iconic Stanley Cup winning goal with the Boston Bruins against Glenn Hall and the St. Louis Blues from 1970. Today marks the 50th anniversary of that goal, and especially, that shot of Orr flying through the air, basically parallel with the ice beneath him, as captured by Ray Lussier.
Bobby Orr recalls his iconic Stanley Cup winning goal 50 years later
Bobby Orr is one of the greatest players to ever suit up in the NHL and he’s the owner of one of the most memorable goals in NHL history. You might not have seen the actual footage of the goal itself, but you’ve definitely seen the photo. This upcoming weekend marks the 50th anniversary of Orr’s famous goal that captured the Boston Bruins’ first Stanley Cup since 1941. On Friday, the 8-time Norris Trophy winner caught up with TSN’s James Duthie and recalled the memorable goal.
Teams you forgot these NHLers played for
Some players around the NHL are known as “suitcases.”, essentially meaning guys that hop around the league and just can’t seem to settle onto one team. While it may come with feelings of being unloved, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Guys like Tomas Vanek have bounced around the league as trade pieces, flipped for value at the deadline. That shows a worth of its own, but it certainly makes it hard for a suitcase to endear themselves to a fan base.

On the occasion of Connor McDavid's first NHL regular season game in Toronto against the Maple Leafs -- the team he grew up cheering for in nearby Newmarket, Ont., -- I thought it would be interesting to take a look back.

Check Out This Awesome Side-By-Side Photo Of Torey Krug, Bobby Orr
Torey Krug and Bobby Orr now share a unique bond: going airborne against the St. Louis Blues. Orr took flight in 1970 after scoring arguably the most memorable goal in Bruins history, which clinched the franchise its fourth Stanley Cup. Nearly 50 years later, Krug soared above the ice following a massive hit on Robert Thomas in Game 1 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final at TD Garden.
Bobby Orr offered up surprising advice for minor hockey parents - Article - BARDOWN
Bobby Orr is one of the only players in NHL history that gave Wayne Gretzky some competition for the greatest players of all time, so he might know a little bit about what it takes to make the NHL. He thinks many parents are a little over committed to hockey at the moment. As any hockey parent knows, the hockey season has quickly become a never-ending grind and kids are playing non-stop from a very early age.

Wednesday was a pretty big day in the Boston sports scene. Early on in the day, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Royals in an afternoon matinee.
