JUST4KIDS Brian Robert Boulay Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Illinois Chicago View Comments ► How does your body make poop? Owen, 4, Wakefield, Massachusetts Much of the food you eat is absorbed by your digestive system, which includes your stomach and your intestines. But some of what you eat makes it all the way through those twists and turns and comes out the other end as poop. How does that happen? Imagine you start your day by eating a bowl of crunchy cereal with milk.

Brunner's Gland Hamartoma: Masquerading as a Duodenal Mass
1 Introduction Brunner's glands are mucosal or submucosal glands most commonly found in the duodenum [1, 2]. Brunner's gland hyperplasia or hamartoma is a benign growth of the mucosal or submucosal layers of the duodenum. The pathogenesis is unknown. There have been a few proposed etiologies ranging from high gastric acid secretion to Helicobacter pylori infection, the result of inflammation, and chronic pancreatitis [1, 2].

Endoscopic removal of gossypiboma: a rare cause of gastric outlet obstruction
A 37-year-old woman was transferred to our hospital for escalation of care because of concern for a gossypiboma. Five months earlier she had undergone open cholecystectomy in Venezuela without acute adverse events. She subsequently emigrated to the United States, and 2 months after surgery, she experienced intermittent postprandial abdominal pain. Three weeks before admission, her symptoms worsened, with new postprandial emesis.
