Innate immune imprints shape HIV-1 reservoir cell persistence during long-term antiretroviral therapy
Abstract Host immune responses that can target and eliminate HIV-1 reservoir cells during suppressive antiretroviral therapy are poorly understood. Here, analyzing over 6,000 proviral DNA amplicons from 104 individuals on long-term antiretroviral therapy, we found that carriers of HLA-C2 allotypes, which promote NK cell education via interactions with KIR2DL1, exhibited lower frequencies of intact proviruses.
CD8+ T cell stemness precedes post-intervention control of HIV viremia - Nature
Abstract Interventions to induce lasting HIV remission are needed to obviate the requirement for lifelong antiretroviral therapy (ART). Durable post-intervention control (PIC) of viremia has been achieved in a subset of individuals following broadly neutralizing anti-HIV-1 antibody (bNAb) administration and analytical treatment interruption (ATI)1-4. Prior studies support a role for CD8+ T cells5-9 but the precise features of CD8+ T cells involved in PIC remain unclear.
Guidelines for T cell nomenclature - Nature Reviews Immunology
|
Abstract Advances in T cell biology have revealed heterogeneity among T cell populations that is not captured by existing general nomenclature. This issue has caused an ad hoc broadening of core T cell subset definitions and the invention of new subset designations that have not been uniformly delineated. To address this issue, in this Consensus Statement, we propose guidelines that serve three goals.

Molecular basis of differential HLA class I-restricted T cell recognition of a highly networked HIV peptide - Nature Communications
Abstract Cytotoxic-T-lymphocyte (CTL) mediated control of HIV-1 is enhanced by targeting highly networked epitopes in complex with human-leukocyte-antigen-class-I (HLA-I). However, the extent to which the presenting HLA allele contributes to this process is unknown. Here we examine the CTL response to QW9, a highly networked epitope presented by the disease-protective HLA-B57 and disease-neutral HLA-B53.
