HANCOCK -- At Wednesday’s meeting, the Hancock City Council. received an update on the current water and sewer project on Prospect and Elevation streets. City Manager Mary Babcock said the Market Street re-pavment between South Lincoln Drive and Elevation Street will be completed by the end of next week. "That work is being done as we speak," Babcock said.

Ontonagon to have Labor Day Festival this weekend

ONTONAGON --The Village of Ontonagon will celebrate its 70th-annual Ontonagon Labor Day Festival with events Saturday through Monday. Ontonagon Village Manager and Labor Day Festival Committee Treasurer Willie DuPont said the celebration is the village and county's biggest celebration of the year. "To me, this is very unique. I am not from the area, so nobody really has a Labor Day Festival. Everybody does the Fourth of July," he said.

HANCOCK -- Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a vehicle which they say may have been involved in an alleged hit and run accident in Hancock over the weekend. According to a press release, the Hancock City Police Department is actively investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred in the early morning hours Saturday.
