I cover enterprise apps, a little bit of technology product (think databases, data integration and PaaS) and the issues that affect all software customers: Licensing, pricing, deal negotiation.

One of the things I'm known for is writing about major software project failures and lawsuits filed by customers against vendors. If you have any tips along those lines, please do share!

If you've got product news, it helps to have a customer at the ready to speak with me. Note the use of 'at the ready!'…

What was your first job as a journalist?

Shoveling coal into the ancient printing press at the Muddy Brook Times.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Afflict the comfortable, comfort the afflicted! Seek the truth and ask the hard questions. Skeptical by default but open to hearing all side.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email! Keep headers short and hyperbole-free! I almost automatically ignore pitches that claim to be about a "first-ever" product.
