Weather Ready Alert: Wildfire smoke worsens overnight into Thursday

WEST MICHIGAN — A FOX 17 Weather Ready Alert is in place through Thursday for wildfire smoke that will move into West Michigan. This smoke will impact the air quality as well. Several wildfires have broken out in western Ontario and smoke from these has already moved into Michigan as of Wednesday afternoon. This smoke will continue to move south through the day and it will arrive in West Michigan in the evening. By Wednesday night into Thursday morning, the smoke will be widespread.

This heat wave could bring the hottest temperatures since 2017

More heat is on the way this week for West Michigan and some places could see their hottest temperatures since 2017. This heat wave is coming with some humidity but not as high as the heat wave a few weeks ago. Because of this, temperatures will actually get a little warmer while heat index values will be slightly lower near 100 degrees. For Grand Rapids, the Weather Ready Team is forecasting a high temperature of 96 degrees for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Weather Ready Alert: High heat, humidity coming this week

WEST MICHIGAN — FOX 17 has issued a Weather Ready Alert for parts of this week as another heat wave is set to begin. Some places, including Grand Rapids, could see their hottest temperatures of the year so far this week. Hot weather will begin on Monday with high temperatures in the lower 90s but the hottest days will be Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, highs will be in the mid to upper 90s and on Wednesday, they will be in the mid 90s. Both of those days are Weather Ready Alerts.
