ONAWA, Iowa (KTIV) -In Onawa, Iowa, a man climbed the town’s old grain elevator, and blocked the ladder so no one could follow him. The man on the grain elevator had attempted to block off the ladder entrance to the top of the grain elevator. The standoff began at about 2:30pm, Thursday afternoon. For more than two hours, law enforcement tried to communicate with him via a drone.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Sioux City’s Planning and Zoning Commission heard from the city’s Neighborhood Services Department about an initiative to bring new life to vacant lots. In 2024, a group of city staff members started looking at all of the city-owned lots throughout the community and determined what vacant lots they could sell to interested parties and developers to build more single-family housing in the Sioux City community.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sioux City community school district is searching for an interim superintendent after the resignation of Dr. Juan Cordova. Right now, Associate Superintendent Angela Bemus is overseeing the day-to-day operations of the district as acting superintendent.
