Springfield native and Arkansas Razorbacks star Trevon Brazile heard his name called on Day 2 of the NBA Draft. With pick No. 35 the San Antonio Spurs selected Trevon Brazile, then was traded to the Denver Nuggets in a package deal. He became the first high school graduate from a Springfield high school to be selected since Parkview High School’s Greg Cavener in 1985. The Golden State Warriors selected Cavener in the fifth round. Brazile began his career as a freshman at Parkview.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Ozark native Devyn Wright went from JUCO baseball player to NAIA champion to NCAA champion in four years. Wright ran the second leg for Arkansas in the 4x400-meter relay Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Championship. The Razorbacks placed third in the relay, the final event of the day, and the points kept Arkansas ahead to win the men’s team title. Wright said it took his relay team a moment or two to realize they had become national champions.
