WGEM-TV is the NBC-affiliated television station for the Tri-States area of Western Illinois, Northeastern Missouri, and extreme Southeastern Iowa that is licensed to Quincy, Illinois. It broadcasts a high definition digital signal on VHF channel 10 from a transmitter east of the city on Cannonball Road near I-172. The station is the flagship of Quincy Newspapers, and is a sister operation to the company's namesake, The Quincy Herald-Whig, and WGEM-AM-FM. Its studios are located in the New Tremont Apartments (formerly the Hotel Quincy) on Hampshire Street in Downtown Quincy. Source

Todd Johnson, District 6 construction engineer for IDOT, said the work on Broadway from 12th to 38th Streets is about 95% done. Johnson said paving is complete for the year. He said the main focus of work right now is striping.
Firefighter killed in BASE jumping accident, fire department confirms
SALT LAKE CITY (Gray News) - A firefighter in Utah died during a BASE jumping accident, the fire department confirmed. Gabe Reilly died in a BASE jumping accident in Cache County on Sept. 27, according to the Salt Lake City Fire Department. He was 27. Reilly served as a firefighter for the department for four years.

Trump orders removal of ticks and mosquitoes from nation’s capital
(CNN) — President Donald Trump signed a new executive order Wednesday that aims to slash the population of mosquitoes and ticks that spread disease in Washington, D.C. The order directs federal agencies to cut the populations of Asian tiger and Egyptian mosquitoes in the nation’s capital by 90% by 2028. It mandates a 50% cut in the tick population within the same time frame. The Department of Health and Human Services, the EPA and the Department of the Interior would be involved in the effort.
Rare two-headed turtle hatchling found on Cape Cod
CAPE COD, Mass. (CNN) — A rare two-headed diamondback terrapin hatchling was brought to marine wildlife officials in New England for assessment, according to the Cape Wildlife Center. The turtle was discovered at a nesting site on Cape Cod. The hatchling weighs roughly as much as a nickel, the center said. The center said the turtle has a rare developmental anomaly called bicephaly, in which two independent and functional heads grow from a single body.
Police: Former boyfriend of Destinie Daniels ‘cooperating fully’ in ongoing death investigation
QUINCY (WGEM) - The former boyfriend of Destinie Daniels, who was recently found dead in her Quincy apartment, has been working with Quincy Police, according to Interim Police Chief Michael Tyler. According to Tyler, during the investigation, Collin Blanchett voluntarily contacted the Quincy Police Department. According to Daniels’ Facebook profile, she and Blanchett were in a relationship.
Monroe County Sheriff to hold meeting on Flock cameras as other Tri-State agencies weigh usage
PARIS, Mo. (WGEM) - The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has announced plans to hold an informational meeting on Flock Safety’s Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), adding its name to a growing list of area agencies addressing the technology. According to a post on the office’s Facebook page, the meeting is set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Monroe County Courthouse.
