(WCBD) – As temperatures rise and families head to the pool, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has shared water safety tips to keep everyone safe in and around the water this summer. Staying safe in the water tips include: Never leave children unattended around water, not even for a few seconds. Designate a responsible adult as the "Water Watcher" and avoid distractions like phones or conversations. Ensure pools are secured with proper fencing and self-latching gates.

SC animal adoption event kicks off Friday

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – South Carolina's biggest animal adoption event of the year will get underway on Friday, June 12, 2026. Petco Love Pick Me! SC is returning from June 12 to 21, bringing together more than 90 animal shelters, rescue organizations and Petco stores across the state. For the ten-day event, participating organizations statewide will offer free and low-fee adoptions.
