America answered 9/11 with unity. We can come together again | Opinion Original
The day, Sept. 11, 2001, is seeded in my mind and soul forever. I was on one of the few planes still flying that morning. We landed at National Airport around 8 a.m., before the first tower was hit. Then U.S.-Rep. David Camp was sitting next to me. Before we left Detroit, I turned to him and said, "I have the weirdest feeling. If you weren’t sitting next to me, I think I would get off this plane." We had no idea what was about to happen.

Dingell: The enduring lessons of Ismael Ahmed’s life of service
Feb. 5, 2026, 6:43 p.m. ET “We are all brothers and sisters. We have to take care of each other.” Ismael Ahmed did not treat those words as a slogan. He treated them as a responsibility. They were his moral compass, and he followed them with purpose, conviction, and urgency his entire life. Friends called him Ish. Ish, who died Saturday at age 79, believed deeply in togetherness. At a time when division too often dominates our politics and media, he chose a different path.
Dingell: Republican bill raises energy costs for Michiganians
Debbie Dingell Dec. 23, 2025, 8:00 p.m. ET View Comments This summer, President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans passed a bill that will have negative consequences for years to come for working Americans. The disastrous long-term effects of this bill will raise costs for Michiganians on many fronts. Many of these repercussions were deliberately crafted not to go into effect until after the midterm election next year.

Debbie Dingell: Trump's Medicaid cuts will kill Americans | Opinion
The fight to protect and expand Medicare and Medicaid is personal to me, and I’m deeply concerned about the current state of health care in our country. My late husband, U.S. Rep. John Dingell, presided over the House of Representatives that approved Medicare in 1965, and he was by President Lyndon B. Johnson’s side when he signed these lifesaving programs into law 60 years ago today.

The U.S. House is set to begin the most significant discussion of the future of America’s health care system in some time. He has been a public servant for more than 50 years, and at his core is very real, very human, has experienced much loss and has dedicated his career to fighting for all Americans. Throughout his presidency, during his successes and challenges, Biden always led with kindness, empathy, and understanding.

Dingell: Attack on Paul Pelosi should be wake-up call to country
My thoughts are with Paul and Nancy Pelosi and their entire family after the violent, hate-filled attack at their home in San Francisco yesterday. I write this week’s letter with a very specific message to all.
