Highly ordered, ultra-dense intermetallic nanocrystals extend heavy-duty fuel cell projected lifetime beyond 240,000 h
Abstract High-performance cathode catalysts are essential for proton-exchange membrane fuel cells. Intermetallic nanocrystals are promising candidates but suffer from intrinsic activity–durability trade-offs because their comprehensive catalytic properties are determined by several intertwined structural factors that cannot be optimized independently by existing synthesis techniques. The challenge lies in the inherent thermodynamic and kinetic constraints during synthesis.
Early CCR2-dependent monocyte recruitment defines a critical neuroinflammatory window after subarachnoid hemorrhage
Abstract Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) remains a devastating cerebrovascular disease with limited therapies targeting secondary neurological injury. Increasing evidence suggests that the early brain injury (EBI) period within the first 72h after SAH represents a critical therapeutic window characterized by diffuse neurovascular and inflammatory activation within the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and meningeal compartments.
Multi-element nanoscale doping of iron-rich sodium layered oxides enables ampere-hour-level Na-ion batteries
Abstract The Fe(III)|Fe(IV) redox couple in iron-containing Na layered oxides enables high-capacity, cost-effective positive electrodes. However, although a high iron content (when the Fe concentration exceeds 33 at.% on transition metal layers) leads to rapid capacity decay during battery cycling, the underlying mechanism of this detrimental behaviour remains unclear.
Spin-quenching cobalt center for efficient ammonia synthesis derived from oxide mixology
Abstract The spin polarization plays a critical role in heterogeneous catalysis by influencing the properties of active sites and thereby altering catalytic performance. However, precise construction of active sites with well-tuned spin states remains challenging. Here we demonstrate to manipulate the spin polarization of ferromagnetic cobalt (Co) centers in nitride catalysts by regulating the oxide mixology of precursors.

Stability Analysis of Longitudinal Inclined Tunnel Faces in Reinforced Soft Soil Strata: A Coupled Theoretical and Numerical Investigation
1 Introduction Tunnel face stability is a crucial concern in shield tunneling. Given that each tunnel project possesses distinct characteristics, methods for predicting tunnel face stability should be specifically tailored to the relevant conditions. Numerous studies have thoroughly examined this critical issue under various working conditions using a range of approaches, including numerical simulations [1-4], theoretical analysis [5-14], and experimental tests [15-20].
Grain boundary stabilization of fluorite ferroelectrics
Abstract Grain boundaries (GBs) can tailor the macroscopic properties of polycrystalline materials via their intrinsic structural and electronic states. However, as independent heterointerfaces, their role in stabilizing grain phases remains largely unexplored, especially at the atomic scale. Here we report that chemically ordered heterogeneous GBs in ZrO2 thin films act as active stabilizers of a metastable polar phase.

Lattice pinning in MoO3 via coherent interface with stabilized Li+ intercalation - Nature Communications
Abstract Large lattice expansion/contraction with Li+ intercalation/deintercalation of electrode active materials results in severe structural degradation to electrodes and can negatively impact the cycle life of solid-state lithium-based batteries. In case of the layered orthorhombic MoO3 (α-MoO3), its large lattice variation along the b axis during Li+ insertion/extraction induces irreversible phase transition and structural degradation, leading to undesirable cycle life.

Deformation of Sandy Ground Induced by Tunneling of Super-Large-Diameter Shield—Influence of Buried Depth of Tunnel and Relative Density of Sand
Abstract : The mechanical properties of sandy soil depend on both the confining pressure and the state of compactness. Therefore, both the buried depth of the tunnel and the relative density of the sand are key factors that affect the ground deformation induced by the tunneling of a super-large-diameter shield. In this study, the parameters of the SANISAND constitutive model are first calibrated based on triaxial test data for Foshan silty fine sand.
Fluorinated Rocksalt Cathode with Ultra‐high Active Li Content for Lithium‐ion Batteries
