The Sprudge Guide To Coffee In Taipei, Taiwan
The city of Taipei, Taiwan is famed for many things—like Taipei 101, beef noodle soup, and boba milk tea—and now coffee, as the city has quickly become on par with the best coffee cities around the world. This didn’t happen overnight, and it took a few key moments to help elevate Taipei’s coffee scene to where it is today. Coffee first made its way to Taiwan in the early 20th century while under Japanese rule.
Association of Differential Censoring With Survival and Suboptimal Control Arms Among Oncology Clinical Trials
Abstract Differential censoring, which refers to censoring imbalance between treatment arms, may bias the interpretation of survival outcomes in clinical trials. In 146 phase III oncology trials with statistically significant time-to-event surrogate primary endpoints, we evaluated the association between differential censoring in the surrogate primary endpoints, control arm adequacy, and the subsequent statistical significance of overall survival results.
Ketamine induces plasticity in a norepinephrine-astroglial circuit to promote behavioral perseverance
Keywords astrocytes ketamine norepinephrine noradrenaline zebrafish circuits glia behavioral states brain states mood-altering compounds Introduction The behavior of animals incorporates past experience to adapt to changing environments.1,2,3,4,5 Importantly, transient perturbations of circuits, such as through emotionally salient events or brief exposure to psychoactive chemicals, can profoundly alter circuit dynamics and behavior far outlasting the input’s lifetime.
06.18.24 -- Cannabinoids Show Promise As New Treatment For Alzheimer's Disease
Cannabinoids and their innate interaction with the endocannabinoid system, specifically with neuronal functioning, present an attractive therapeutic pathway for Alzheimer's disease, explains Eric Hsu, Ph.D., senior vice president of preclinical research and development at InMed Pharmaceuticals.
Cannabinoids Show Promise As New Treatment For Alzheimer’s Disease
By Eric Hsu, Ph.D., senior VP, preclinical research and development, InMed Pharmaceuticals Major advances have been made over the last decade in the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease pathology and have resulted in the introduction of a few disease-modifying treatments.
Trump's Potential Return Prompts Europeans to Reassess Their Defense Capabilities
As Trump edges closer to clinching the 2024 Republican nomination, many in Europe are sounding the alarm about the potential threat of a second Trump presidency. Christine Lagarde, the president of the European Central Bank, described Donald Trump's election as a "clear threat" to Europe in an interview with the French public broadcasterFrance 2. It's not just the head of the European Central Bank who fears a potential second Trump presidency.
Ketamine modulates a norepinephrine-astroglial circuit to persistently suppress futility-induced passivity
Abstract Mood-altering compounds hold promise for the treatment of many psychiatric disorders, such as depression, but connecting their molecular, circuit, and behavioral effects has been challenging. Here we find that, analogous to effects in rodent learned helplessness models, ketamine pre-exposure persistently suppresses futility-induced passivity in larval zebrafish.

Gain Confidence in mmWave Measurements
Article By : Eric Hsu While mmWave technology provides ample margin for performance improvement, it also creates many challenges. Here are some strategies to address those issues. Millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology is a key enabler for next-generation cellular and satellite communications. While it provides ample margin for performance improvement, it also creates many challenges. At mmWave frequencies, path loss makes radio frequency (RF) power limited and costly.

The role of PXI in 5G new radio RF tests
Author : Eric Hsu | Product Marketing Manager | Keysight Technologies 01 May 2019 5G promises faster, more reliable communications. To enable mobile broadband communications, 5G uses existing & new technologies to achieve extreme data throughputs. With limited 4G LTE spectrum, 5G new radio (NR) introduces mmWave operating bands, wider channel bandwidths & complex multi-antenna configurations that all bring new demands for test.
Autonomous automobilities: The social impacts of driverless vehicles
Introduction A little under two decades ago, Sheller and Urry (2000) devised a compelling agenda for understanding how social life is configured through the car, paving the way for sustained scholarly focus on the complexity of the social dynamics of mobilities.
Astrocytic degeneration in chronic traumatic encephalopathy
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disease associated with repeated head traumas. Using immunohistochemistry for glial fibrillary acidic protein as a marker, plus automated quantitative analysis, we examined the characteristics and extent of astrogliosis present in stage III and IV CTE, along with Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) cases.
