NFL Draft Prospects Each Receive 32 Hats and Jerseys for Virtual Draft
This year’s NFL draft is going to be a little different. The players won’t get to take the stage to hold up their new team’s jersey. The fans won’t get to mercilessly boo NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in person. (They can still do it from home, but it just doesn’t hit the same.) One thing will remain relatively close to normal, however: The players will still get to toss on a baseball cap with their new team’s logo once they get drafted. Making that happen is actually kind of a funny process.

PHILADELPHIA - Temple center Matt Hennessy expected to meet with a number of NFL teams in preparation for next month's entry draft. What Hennessy didn't foresee was that those visits would take place in his mother's living room in Bardonia, N.Y., with Hennessy staring into his laptop's camera. The league has shut down all team facilities because of the coronavirus pandemic, and has forbidden ...

BarDown Staff Leon Draisaitl , Frederick Breedon/Getty Images A lot of people questioned if Leon Draisaitl would be able to lead the Edmonton Oilers on his own when Connor McDavid went down with an injury, but the 24-year-old has done nothing but succeed this year, regardless of who’s in or out of the lineup. On Monday night the Oilers paid a visit to the Nashville Predators. Late in the opening period Draisaitl buried his 40th goal of the season to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Teemu Selanne proves he's (literally) cooler than you once and for all
BarDown Staff Teemu Selanne , (Photo by Frederick Breedon/Getty Images) In Canada, folks pride themselves for their ability to handle cold weather. “Ahh, just toss some water down. We’ll lace ‘em up and play some puck in an hour or two” isn’t even a phrase out of the realm of possibility in the Great White North, but we aren’t the only ones. Finnish star hockey player Teemu Selanne proved that on Tuesday when he posted a video to his Instagram story doing what… er… most wouldn’t want to do.

USMNT heads into Peru friendly with eye on keeping the ball
The image of Colombia dominating play against the U.S. national team last week brought back a recurring theme in 2018, that of the American struggling to find the ball, and keep the ball. The USMNT is 2-3-1 in its past six matches, and each of those matches saw the Americans lose the possession battle. That is to be expected against the likes of France and Brazil, but even an overmatched Bolivia side came away with a 52-48 possession edge.

Giants' Greco starting at centre for injured Halapio
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — After joining the New York Giants as a late-season addition, veteran offensive lineman John Greco came to training camp as somewhat of a bubble guy on the roster. Both a guard and centre, the 33-year-old seemed to be the odd guy out at both spots. Jon Halapio and Brett Jones were the top centres, and rookie Will Hernandez and free-agent signee Patrick Omaneh were the top two guards. Greco and long-time starter John Jerry were fighting for a roster spot. Funny thing happened.
Like father, like son: George and Timothy Weah play on same day
George Weah rolled back the years with an appearance for Liberia on the same day son Timothy turned out for the United States. Weah - the first non-European to win the Ballon d'Or during a spectacular career that included spells at Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan - was sworn in as Liberia's president at the start of the year. However, the 51-year-old was offered the chance to pull on the boots again to mark the retirement of the number 14 shirt he famously wore for his country.
