Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has ordered veteran journalist and political commentator Andrew Mwenda to immediately halt all public statements regarding the Tooro Kingdom. The directive was issued in a statement posted on Gen. Muhoozi’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday night, following days of intense public commentary surrounding the succession process of the kingdom.

The leadership crisis within the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has escalated after Chief Prince (Okwiri) Fred Mugenyi Ruchunya declared that time is officially up for Prime Minister (Omuhikirwa) Andrew Byakutaga and the current members of the Royal Commission. Speaking to journalists in Hoima on Monday, Chief Prince Ruchunya announced that the kingdom’s ruling Babiito clan has already initiated a major leadership clean-up to replace officials whose contracts legally expired in June 2024.

ASP Henrietta Namande Dies Aged 44 from Pregnancy Complications

The Uganda Police Force (UPF) has been plunged into shock and mourning following the sudden death of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Henrietta Namande, who passed away over the weekend due to severe pregnancy-related complications. Namande, 44, who was serving under the police’s Public Relations department, lost her life on Saturday morning. The tragic medical emergency also claimed her unborn twins.
