Antisemitism, Israel, and political ideology on the American college campus
ABSTRACT Since October 7, 2023, antisemitism on American campuses has become a contested political issue. Scholars of antisemitism argue that the relationship between antisemitism and political ideology follows a “horseshoe” pattern, with higher levels of antisemitic hostility on both the far right and far left. However, existing empirical research has yet to establish this connection, in part because antisemitism may be expressed differently on opposite sides of the left-right political spectrum.
Antisemitism on campus is a real problem − but headlines and government-proposed solutions don’t match the experience of most Jewish students
Our findings show antisemitic ideas are not necessarily widespread among university students or faculty in the U.S. But that doesn’t mean antisemitism is not a serious problem, since just a few students or faculty members with extreme views can shape an entire campus’s climate. Students reported personal experiences of antisemitic harassment – especially on social media. But they also said they feel shunned or excluded from campus life.
Antisemitism on campus is a real problem − but headlines and government-proposed solutions don’t match the experience of most Jewish students Original
It’s been nearly two years since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel and the subsequent start of the Israel-Hamas war – and still, antisemitism shows no sign of abating as one of the thorniest issues at American colleges and universities. University administrators have responded in various ways to Jewish students’ reports of harassment and discrimination during and after pro-Palestinian protests in 2024 and 2025.

To Fight Antisemitism, Treat Faculty as Allies (opinion)
For months, the Trump administration has threatened America’s most prestigious universities with investigations, lawsuits and holds on federal funding in the name of fighting antisemitism, eliminating “DEI” and promoting “viewpoint diversity.” These actions have hit universities hard.

Ben`s Saturday Tips of the Day
Saturday An opening mark of 116 looks very lenient for OH MY JOHNNY after a facile success at Uttoxeter last time out. That run was preceded by another promising run at Bangor where he took a false step after the last when victory was all but assured. He certainly looks a progressive type who is improving run by run and I’m sure a mark of 116 underplays his ability.

Bens Friday & Saturday Tips of the Day
Friday A wise man once told me to never back a horse after it has fallen as you never know what mark it has left on the horse pyschologically. Kalif Du Berlais suffered a nasty enough fall last time out at Carlisle and that is enough for me to oppose him at Newbury today. Whatever I found would be a good price as he completely dominates the market but the horse I’ve fallen on is IDY WOOD who looks a sound each way proposition.
Bens Saturday Tips of the Day
Saturday A good day of racing in store for what is looking like a very wet Saturday afternoon for almost all of us. I will be at Haydock, sheltering for cover most likely, where I am envisaging a very good day for Dan Skelton. It’s hard to be too confident on what is going to happen with regards to the forecast rain but I am working on the assumption it’s going to be soft/heavy ground.
Bens Friday Saturday & Sundays Tips
Friday In my view it is a poor day of racing at Cheltenham today where I have struggled to find something to bet on. I will have to wait for the last race of the day for LETTERSTON LILY who bids to go a few places better than last time out. Peter Bowen’s 4 year old filly has had a different introduction to National Hunt racing making her debut in the Aintree bumper in the Spring before enduring a busy summer where she has developed into a tidy hurdler.
Clarkson’s Farm star Gerald Cooper launches charity racehorse syndicate

Bens Saturday Tips of The Day
Saturday HARBOUR LAKE certainly deserves to get his head in front in a race like the 1.30 at Aintree tomorrow, I just hope he’s fit enough to do so as it looks like a great opportunity. Alan King‘s hurdler finished placed in a couple of competitive 3m handicaps at the back end of last season, the form of which is working out well, amd he remains on a handy looking mark of 129.
Bens Friday & Saturday Tips
Friday The first day back at Cheltenham today has produced an interesting card which will no doubt give us some tidy form lines to follow in the coming weeks. I’m eager to see how WYENOT gets on in the opener as I think Henry Daly’s mare is well handicapped. Not overfaced last year, she racked up three victories in good style.

Bens Saturday Tips of The Day
It’s the final day of the flat season tomorrow at Ascot and I’m hoping to go out with a bang or maybe even a splash which might be more relevant given recent weather conditions. I will be interested to see just how testing it is given we are due a couple of good drying days so I will probably take a watching brief in the Long Distance Cup and take notes. I will no doubt have a punt in the Champions Sprint and have two on my shortlist.
Bens Friday and Saturday Tips
Friday A busy day across both codes today with the return of Chepstow catching a few punters’ attention. I’m not going to get too heavily involved this early but I do think NATHANAEL GREEN is overpriced in the first race. It looks an ordinary novice hurdle in all honesty and with doubts over the fitness of some of Paul Nicholls‘ runners I certainly wouldn’t be scared to take on the favourite.
Colleges could benefit from taking a data-driven look at hostility toward Jews on campus
In the year that has passed since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, college campuses have been embroiled in debates about the resulting conflict. A major focus of these debates has been the surge in reports of antisemitic harassment of Jewish students, with campus administrators, faculty, politicians and pundits furiously arguing over the prevalence and severity of antisemitism on campus.

Bens Saturday Tips of The Day
There is an end of season feel to tomorrow’s racing and I don’t anticipate going into battle that often. The 7f handicap at Ascot is always one I like to have a pop at and my main hope this year is the classy POPMASTER. Ed Walker’s admirable 6 year old has been mixing it in Group level this year and although running respectably he hasn’t quite been up to that level.
Bens Friday & Saturday Tips
Friday The soft ground at Newmarket today shouldn’t pose many problems for EPIC POET but it could inconvenience plenty of his rivals which would leave him with a great opportunity to gain some listed success. A model of consistency all summer he finally got his head in front in a big one last time out at Haydock. Always travelling like the best horse in the race he put the race to bed in a few strides when allowed to kick on.

PRESS RELEASE: Star Sports acquire Pelaw Grange Greyhound Stadium in County Durham
Star Sports are proud to announce that Pelaw Grange Greyhound Stadium in Chester-le-Street will join the Star group of companies – as soon as the contracts have been exchanged – and be renamed Star Pelaw. Star Sports’ Kim Sanzone will head up the new venture, assisted by the Racing Manager at Pelaw Grange, David Gray, who will continue in his current role.
Bens Friday & Saturday Tips
Friday I think it’s safe to say CANDY has been a bit of a work in progress so far this season but he looks to be putting it together now and I think he has a fair chance in an open nursery at Ayr today. The form of his second at Newbury looked strong and he proved that run was no fluke by winning a tactical affair at Newbury last time out. He should enjoy this bigger field more and a pace to aim at will certainly help him. He stays well so the stiff finish shouldn’t pose any problems to him.
Harry Skelton: People might consider missing Cheltenham and wait for Aintree
Star Sports ambassadors Harry Skelton and Davy Russell have commented on the changes to the 2025 Cheltenham Festival, most notably the news of the Turners Novices’ Chase being downgraded to a handicap from a Grade 1. Skelton, who won the most recent renewal of the Turners this year on Grey Dawning, said: “It was fantastic to win the Turners. This was the race for Grey Dawning because we felt 2m 4f at Cheltenham was the right distance for him at the track.
Bens Day 2 & 3 St Ledgers Tips plus Friday & Sat Tips
Friday The Mallard Handicap opens proceedings on Day 2 of the St Leger meeting and it looks in the hands of the young up and comers. Of those I do really like SHADOW DANCE who threatens to improve past the 5lbs he was handed for his victory at York. The step up to 1m 6f should really see some improvement in Roger Varian’s 4 year old and he wouldn’t need to improve much to take this I don’t think.
Bens Day 1 Tips at the St Leger
Day 1 of the St Leger meeting at Doncaster is shaping up to be a really competitive, interesting card. Good ground all round makes it a level playing field for all involved so I’m looking forward to finding some winners today and the rest of the week. My main fancy today is TOOMUCHFORME in the opener at Doncaster. Karl Burke‘s filly lost little in defeat last time out as she finished second to a smart one giving her weight.
Bens Friday & Saturday Tips of the Day
Friday I can easily forgive BOARDMAN for his last two runs as the races didn’t develop in a way to suit this hold up performer. Prior to that he showed signs that he was ready to strike again. A fast finishing second here at Haydock where he was a tad a unlucky not to win suggested he is in good heart but clearly just needs everything to drop right. He has to shoulder top weight today but that does mean he is in against weaker opposition which might just be what he needs.

It was hard not to be impressed with ROYAL PLAYWRIGHT’s debut performance at Salisbury last time out where he was very strong in the finish. That performance suggested that he is very capable performer and the step up in grade in the Solario Stakes tomorrow should be one he can take in his stride. It is however one of the better renewals of this race so he has his hands full but he impressed me visually with how he powered away late on with ears still pricked.
Bens Friday & Sats Ebor Festival Tips
Friday The step up in trip threatens to bring about plenty of improvement in MR MONACO in the opener at York today. Ralph Beckett’s improving 3 year old has been a bit of a slow burner so far this year, improving from run to run. He finally managed to get his head in front with a cosy success at Sandown last time out. He had the run of the race but it was noted how strong he was in the finish coming up the Sandown hill.
Bens Day One Ebor Festival Tips
Day one of the Ebor meeting looks set to be a great day of action. The 5f handicap is a fine race to kickstart the meeting and with the quick ground forecast I would say the front runners will take some pegging back. With that in mind I think DEMOCRACY DILEMMA is the one to be on despite having to shoulder top weight. 3 year olds don't have a great record in this race so I'm unsure why so many are at the front of market and would advise people to look elsewhere.
Bens Saturday Tips of The Day
Another ultra competitive Saturday afternoon means there is plenty for punters to get stuck in to. Newbury hosts a decent card and there are a couple of interesting horses who will be carrying my money. The form of the Ian Williams stable took a huge surge yesterday as he reeled off a treble between Chepstow and Windsor. This bodes well for BE FRANK tomorrow who makes his stable debut.
Barry Hearn: I could save horse racing!
Speaking on Star Sports‘ #BettingPeople interview, legendary sports promoter Barry Hearn commented on the current state of horse racing, adding that he believes he could save the sport by reinstating a 2.5% tax on winning bet payouts. “I could save horse racing – it's very simple. I would instate the return of the betting tax immediately.” he said.
