Activation of lung megakaryocyte α 7 nAChR exacerbates allergic airway inflammation via IL-33/p38 MAPK signaling
Abstract The cholinergic antiinflammatory pathway attenuates lung inflammation via the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR) on immune cells. However, the role of α7 nAChR on lung megakaryocytes (Mks) in allergic airway inflammation remains unknown. In this study, allergen-challenged mouse models were used with conditional Mk-specific Chrna7 knockout, pharmacological activation (GTS-21), and Mk reconstitution. IL-33 expression and p38 MAPK signaling were assessed.
An interpretable machine learning model for preoperative risk stratification of testicular viability in pediatric testicular torsion: A multicenter study
Abstract Preoperative prediction of testicular viability in pediatric testicular torsion remains challenging, with current assessment largely dependent on symptom duration and intraoperative judgment. This multicenter study aimed to develop and externally validate an interpretable machine learning model using routinely available hematological parameters. Pediatric patients with surgically confirmed testicular torsion were enrolled from three tertiary hospitals.
Complete genome sequencing of Lactobacillus pentosus HP-B1718 and identification of the key enzyme for liquiritin biotransformation
Abstract Introduction: As a free aglycone with higher bioavailability and pharmacological activity, liquiritigenin can be obtained from liquiritin (liquiritigenin-4’-O-β-D-glucoside) catalyzed by Aryl-phospho-beta-D-glucosidase (designated as ApgA). Recent studies have revealed that the fermentation broth of Lactobacillus pentosus HP-B1718 can efficiently transform liquiritin into liquiritigenin.
Structural Basis for Inhibition of the Voltage-Gated Sodium Channel Na V 1.7 by the Tarantula Toxin HWTX-I
Key words NaV1.7 spider venom-derived peptide toxins HWTX-I pain Introduction Pain is a distressing and unpleasant emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage and is a serious public health problem (1). The primary source of pain signals perceived by humans stems from action potentials (APs) generated by voltage-gated sodium (NaV) channels and the subsequent propagation of electrical signaling.

Riplet promotes lipid metabolism changes associated with CD8 T cell exhaustion and anti-PD-1 resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma
Editor’s summary Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is typically resistant to current immunotherapy treatments, but mechanisms causing resistance are poorly understood. Liang et al. show that the promotor of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Riplet is silenced by hypermethylation in HCC, which alters fatty acid metabolism and results in terminal exhaustion of CD8 T cells.
Identifying dynamic functions of urban areas with a multi-temporal collaborative graph neural network model
Abstract Identifying urban functional zones (UFZs) is of great significance for urban planning and sustainable development. Current approaches typically focus on the recognition of static and single-label UFZs, failing to capture their dynamic nature and functional heterogeneity. In this study, we propose a multi-temporal collaborative graph neural network (MCGNN) model for dynamic urban functions identification with a multi-label strategy.

Hydrogen Sulfide Sustained Release Donor Alleviates Spinal Cord Ischemia-Reperfusion‐Induced Neuron Death by Inhibiting Ferritinophagy‐Mediated Ferroptosis - Xie - 2025 - CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics - Wiley Online Library
1 Introduction Due to ischemia episodes during thoracoabdominal aneurysm surgery and endovascular aortic repair surgery, spinal cord ischemia–reperfusion injury (SCIRI) remains a complication that cannot be avoided completely, despite advances in surgical technology and skill [1-3]. It could cause severe dysfunction of sensory and motor functions, and even paraparesis [3].

Task-induced internal bodily rather than brain states regulate human self-perception
Abstract A fundamental ability for us is to identify and distinguish with others, known as the self, whose neural substrate is hard to identify by external self-related stimuli because of possible interference from internal self-related states of both body and brain. Using the same stimuli, we ruled out this dilemma by manipulating human subjects performing own- and celebrity-face discrimination tasks to induce self-related and non-self-related states, respectively.
Impact of Data Corruption and Operating Temperature on Performance of Model-Based SoC Estimation
1. Introduction The EV growth in the market is dramatic, as some significant countries have set a timeline for transitioning transportation from diesel/petrol vehicles to electric vehicles. China has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, and EVs will become one of the strategic industries that will help China achieve its climate goals [1]. In the UK, the full transition to electric vehicles (EVs) will be one of the most important steps in achieving the Net Zero target.

Metformin reduces the rate of small intestinal glucose absorption in type 2 diabetes
In rodents, metformin slows intestinal glucose absorption, potentially increasing exposure of the distal gut to glucose to enhance postprandial glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) secretion. We evaluated the effects of metformin on serum 3-O-methylglucose (3-OMG; a marker of glucose absorption) and plasma total GLP-1 concentrations during a standardized intraduodenal infusion of glucose and 3-OMG in patients with type 2 diabetes.
