Analyzing the cytotoxicity and pro‐tumorigenic role of acetyl tributyl citrate in prostate through network toxicology and the immune microenvironment
Abstract Background: Acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) is an alternative plasticizer to Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and bisphenol A (BPA) that may contribute to the development of various cancers. The cytotoxic activity and pro‐tumorigenic role of ATBC in prostate cancer (PCa) progression remains poorly understood, highlighting the need for a systematic evaluation of its molecular toxicity.
Switchable whiteness in liquid crystal networks via solvent-induced microphase segregation
Abstract Dynamic control over optical whiteness is promising for applications ranging from energy-efficient coatings to adaptive displays. However, current approaches rely on macroscopic structural transformations or externally imposed refractive-index contrasts, offering limited tunability and scalability. Here, we introduce a liquid crystal network (LCN) that undergoes reversible whitening through solvent-triggered disruption of supramolecular interactions.
Therapeutic potential of gut microbiota metabolites against Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumonia: a multiomics analysis integrating network pharmacology, molecular docking, and dynamics simulations
Abstract Although gut microbiota metabolites (GMMs) show therapeutic activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumonia (KPP), their underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Therefore, identifying biomarkers associated with the therapeutic effects of GMM on KPP is crucial. Targets associated with gut microbiota (GM), GMM, and KPP were collected from several databases.

Compartmentalized B cell-microglia crosstalk drives ischemic white matter demyelination
Abstract Ischemic white matter injury and the consequent neuroimmune response can contribute to vascular cognitive impairment. The role of B cells in ischemic white matter injury is unclear. Here, we show that crosstalk between meningeal B cells and CNS-resident microglia exacerbates white matter injury and vascular cognitive impairment.
Human learning of probability distributions is biased toward moderate structural complexity
Abstract Inferring hidden environmental structures, which commonly involves learning arbitrary probability distributions from limited samples, is essential to optimal and adaptive behaviors across various cognitive domains. However, it remains largely unknown how the internal representations constructed by humans may deviate from actual probabilistic structures, and what computational processes, operated under inherent cognitive limitations, give rise to these representations.

Night-to-Night Changes in REM Sleep Are Associated With Symptom Severity in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Two-Night Home Polysomnography Study
1 Introduction Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by substantial heterogeneity in etiology, clinical presentation, and symptom severity (Hirota and King 2023; Tafolla et al. 2025). Sleep disturbances are among the most common co-occurring problems in children with ASD, affecting up to 80% of this population (Johnson and Zarrinnegar 2024).
Single-atom-engineered perovskite enables near-theoretical-rate hydroxyl radical electrogeneration
Abstract Electrochemical advanced oxidation that directly activates O2 through the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) to generate hydroxyl radicals (•OH) offers a sustainable strategy for degrading persistent organic pollutants. However, prevailing approaches typically rely on a stepwise process involving the 2e⁻ ORR to produce H2O2 followed by 1e⁻ activation. High barriers associated with intermediate desorption and inter-site transfer consequently limit the •OH yield.
Efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with cognitive behavioral therapy for depression: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Background: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are established treatments for depression. However, the incremental benefit of combining these approaches remains uncertain, partly because prior reviews have pooled studies with clinically heterogeneous comparator conditions.

Curvature-Controlled Field Effect Enables Thermal Localization for Low-Temperature C─F Bond Activation
1 Introduction Control of local energy density at interfaces is fundamental to surface reaction kinetics [1-3]. Conventional strategies tune electronic structure [4, 5], defects [6, 7], or chemical composition [8, 9] to reduce activation barriers, implicitly assuming that temperature remains spatially uniform at the catalyst surface [10]. However, geometry itself can concentrate physical fields.

Water Radiolysis Enables CO 2 -Activated Radical Recycling of Spent Lithium-Ion Cathodes
1 Introduction The rapid expansion of electric vehicles and portable electronics has created unprecedented demand for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) [1]. With a typical lifespan of 3–8 years, the global volume of spent LIBs is projected to reach 3.7 million tons by 2030 [2, 3]. Recycling critical metals such as Li, Ni, and Co from cathodes is essential to avoid resource scarcity for the clean energy transition, accompanied by untapped economic feedback.
Asymmetrical FeN 4 -O-FeO 4 Dual-Atom Sites in Fe─N─C for Robust pH-Universal Oxygen Reduction Reaction Catalysis
1 Introduction Fuel cells and metal-air batteries are considered to be able to achieve sustainable energy conversion and storage, which has attracted extensive attention [1, 2]. However, in these devices, the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) at the cathode has a hysteresis kinetic process and a high activation energy barrier, which leads to a lower energy conversion efficiency [3, 4]. Although the benchmark platinum (Pt)-based catalysts show significant electrocatalytic activity for the ORR [5-7].

Modeling and evaluation of BVOCs-mediated plant-to-plant stress signaling: a molecular communication perspective
Abstract During plant growth and development, diverse environmental stresses can disrupt normal physiological activities, often leading to growth inhibition or death. Plants release biogenic volatile organic compounds as key mediators to communicate these stress signals to neighboring individuals. However, complex environmental factors—such as meteorological conditions and atmospheric turbulence—markedly affect the atmospheric transport of these compounds.

Methods: We investigated the effects of the NAMPT inhibitor GMX1778 on ferroptosis and tumour immunogenicity in glioblastoma cells.
Maternal parenting and social-emotional competence in Chinese preschoolers: differential contributions of three temperament components and social mastery motivation
ABSTRACT Prior theories highlight child-level factors in the link between parenting and children's social-emotional competence, although this has been understudied empirically. This three-wave study focused on differential contributions of temperament components and the effect of social mastery motivation in this association and further tested the sequential mediation among 519 Chinese mothers (Mage = 36.06) of preschool children (Mage = 4.49; 50.70% boys).
Hacking continuous-variable quantum key distribution using the photorefractive effect on proton-exchanged/annealed-proton-exchanged waveguide
Abstract Lithium niobate materials, which have the potential to fabricate lasers, modulation devices, and photodetectors, are widely used in quantum information processing due to their exceptional optical and electro-optical properties. However, the photorefractive effect in lithium niobate materials may cause the quantum device to deviate from its ideal operation model, which is an important assumption for the security of quantum key distribution.

They are targets for drugs to treat neurological diseases and psychiatric disorders, as well as chemotherapy-induced and postoperative nausea and emesis.
Ectopic B lymphocyte follicles exacerbate ischemic brain damage via MIF-CD74/CXCR4 and interferon signaling
Abstract Neuroinflammation, encompassing both innate and adaptive immune responses, plays a crucial role in ischemic stroke. Although B lymphocytes are central to adaptive immunity, their contributions to ischemic stroke remain poorly understood. Here, we demonstrated that B lymphocytes accumulate in ischemic lesions, forming germinal center–like structures at the later stage after stroke, which mainly depended on in situ proliferation.
Organized immunity in the CNS: what stroke reveals about neuroinflammation and lymphoid niches
Abstract Organized adaptive immunity can emerge in the CNS under specific inflammatory and stromal conditions. The study by Yang et al. in this issue of the JCI reports that experimental ischemic stroke induced germinal center–like B cell follicles through microglial MIF–CD74/CXCR4 signaling and in situ B cell proliferation, promoting chronic neuroinflammation.
