A dataset of drought-induced tree mortality in Canada’s boreal forests from 1970 to 2020
Abstract Drought can trigger widespread tree mortality events and is considered one of the most critical stressors affecting the health of forest ecosystems today. However, datasets documenting drought-induced tree mortality at broad spatial and long-term temporal scales remain scarce. Here, we present a long-term dataset of drought-induced tree mortality in Canada’s boreal forests.

Effects of cognitive load and time-on-task on mental fatigue in real-world drilling operations
Abstract Mental fatigue is an important human factors issue affecting safety performance in high-risk operations. Previous studies have relied on short laboratory tasks and often examined the effects of time-on-task and cognitive load separately. This study investigated their joint effects on mental fatigue in a real drilling environment using EEG cross-frequency coupling (CFC) and a Transformer model.
Spectrum-sparse broadband chaotic signal generation based on an optical frequency shift loop
Spectrum-sparse chaotic signals offer both a large detection bandwidth and low spectral occupancy. However, existing photonic schemes have difficulty in reconfiguring their sparsity characteristics. A microwave photonic scheme based on an optical frequency shift loop (OFSL) is proposed to generate a broadband chaotic signal with sparse spectrum.

Effect of physical exercise on mental health risks among Chinese left-behind children: chained mediating roles of regulatory emotional self-efficacy and psychological sense of school membership
Abstract Objective: Left-behind children (LBC) refer to youth aged less than 16 years whose parents have been absent for 6 months or longer. Given the absence of parental affection, these children frequently encounter challenges leading to severe mental health concerns.
Type 1 diabetes mellitus induced by sintilimab: a case report and related case literature analysis
Abstract Immune checkpoint inhibitors are widely used in the treatment of malignant tumors. Although the incidence rate of type 1 diabetes induced by these inhibitors is low, the damage to pancreatic β cells is irreversible and the treatment effect of steroids is poor, which requires clinical attention.

METTL3 loss exacerbates colitis via m 6 A-dependent Slc39a8 regulation and epithelial lineage depletion
Abstract The intestinal epithelium maintains host-microbiota homeostasis, while inflammatory conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), induce pathological shifts in intestinal epithelial cell (IEC) subtypes. We unveil METTL3, an RNA m6A methyltransferase, as a pivotal regulator of this balance. METTL3 is enriched in intestinal stem cells and transit-amplifying cells (TACs), and upregulated in patients with IBD and a mouse model of IBD.
Understanding the Catalytic Determinant role of Diaphorase-Like Subunit in Formate Dehydrogenases via Redox Couples
1 Introduction In recent years, the alarming rise in carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations has prompted the search for efficient enzymatic methods for CO2 fixation [1-4]. Consequently, formate dehydrogenases (FDHs) have attracted considerable attention because of their catalytic characteristics in CO2 formate interconversion [5-7]. However, a major challenge is that most FDHs catalyze formate oxidation at a substantially higher rate.

Synthesis of Fused‐Nitrogen‐Based Energetic Ionic Liquids: Low‐Temperature and High Energy Plasticizers for Solid Propellants
1 Introduction Enhancing the energy of solid propellants remains a continuous research objective as they serve as the primary power source for rocket engines [1-4]. However, the application of novel solid propellants is constrained critically due to increased sensitivity, which is inevitable during energy enhancement. Consequently, the primary development focus in the field of propellants is concentrated in balancing the energy output and maintaining low sensitivity.
Modeling urban planning contributions to flood resilience under shared socioeconomic pathways - npj Urban Sustainability
Abstract Flooding from short-duration extreme rainfall poses growing risks to rapidly urbanizing regions under climate change. This study integrates 2035 urban planning into simulations of extreme rainfall-induced flooding in the Pearl River Delta Metropolitan region. Results show that while urban planning has limited impact on reducing overall hazard, it plays a critical role in redistributing it spatially.

Each patient underwent two CT scans: CT1 (no bolus) and CT2 (with bolus placed on the chest wall).
Quantum State Encoding of Vortical Flows With the Spinor Field
Encoding velocity fields as quantum states poses a significant challenge in the development of quantum algorithms for fluid dynamics. Conventional methods, often based on direct normalization of discrete velocity data, do not intrinsically capture the structure and dynamics of vortex flows, potentially introducing artifacts that affect accuracy in modeling flow evolution.

Supramolecular Polymer Additives as Repairable Reinforcements for Dynamic Covalent Networks
1 Introduction Supramolecular chemistry has evolved as a central science, providing ample opportunities for materials development across various fields such as health[1-4] and energy.[5-8] The intrinsic on-demand (de)bonding properties of supramolecular materials, arising from the dynamic and labile nature of non-covalent interactions, have enabled the development of smart, adaptive,[9-11] and reprocessable materials.[12, 13] The latter can be unlocked by adjusting the association and...

Adaptive hierarchical origami-based metastructures - Nature Communications
Abstract Shape-morphing capabilities are crucial for enabling multifunctionality in both biological and artificial systems. Various strategies for shape morphing have been proposed for applications in metamaterials and robotics. However, few of these approaches have achieved the ability to seamlessly transform into a multitude of volumetric shapes post-fabrication using a relatively simple actuation and control mechanism.
