Another Weather Warn Day added, as record heat lasts through Fourth of July weekend

This is the fireworks forecast for July 4. Temperatures will be in the low 90s in the evening and then fall to low 80s by the time fireworks begin. (WLOS) WLOS — The heat wave will continue through Independence Day weekend, which has prompted the News 13 weather crew to add another Weather Warn Day to the forecast. The Weather Warn Days were initially for July 1-4. But with temperatures expected to be in the low 90s on Sunday, July 5, that day, too, is now a Weather Warn Day.

Many think the name of the moon comes from the color the moon turns, but the moon will not turn strawberry red.

It was hot out there today! So hot, Friday, June 12, was in fact the hottest day of the year so far for many in the Carolinas. Asheville has yet to officially hit the 90-degree mark but came closest today with a high of 89 degrees. With the humid air, that 89 felt like 92 earlier Friday afternoon.
