Lamont says no to big data centers in CT

Governor Ned Lamont said he is open to building IT infrastructure in Connecticut, but there is no place for massive data centers in the state. Connecticut already has smaller data centers located throughout the state. But Lamont said a major data center would demand a large amount of electricity, which he worries could raise electric rates for residents. “One of these fifteen hundred-acre big AI data centers, they’re never going to be in Connecticut. We’re the wrong place for that,” Lamont said.

Blumenthal questions TikTok about safety features

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) is demanding that TikTok provide answers after a report revealed that the social media company temporarily paused its algorithmic safety measure. The company removed the safety features in December 2021 for 15 million of its American users- which is roughly 10 percent of its total users. The company removed a safety filter that creates a bubble of prevention for users.

CT safety officials advise driver to be careful near school buses

With students returning to school this week, Connecticut safety officials advise drivers to be vigilant on the road. Back to school means the return of school buses, bikes and children walking to and from schools. Public safety officials say drivers are warned that it is illegal to drive past school buses when they are stopped. Watertown Police Chief Bernegger is the chair of the Connecticut Police Chief Association.
