Broadband low-loss dual-function modulator-polarizer based on an ITO-assisted hollow hybrid plasmonic waveguide
To enable both polarization control and optical modulation in silicon photonics, we propose a compact dual-function device based on an ITO-assisted hollow hybrid plasmonic waveguide (HPW). By narrowing the silicon core to suppress the TE mode, the device functions as a TM-pass polarizer. Concurrently, it exploits the epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) effect of ITO combined with the strong field confinement of the HPW to achieve efficient electro-absorption modulation of the TM mode.
Combined targeting of ER stress and CX43 preserves cardiomyocyte survival during ischemia-reperfusion
Abstract Connexin43 (CX43) plays a central yet paradoxical role in myocardial ischemia–reperfusion (IR) injury. Although both endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and CX43 have been implicated in IR injury, the mechanisms linking them remain poorly defined. In H9C2 cells subjected to oxygen–glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R), GRP78 expression increased progressively while CX43 levels declined in a time-dependent manner.
Effects of non-thermal plasma on disinfection of indoor air and reduction of particulate matter
Abstract Indoor airborne microorganisms and particulate matter (PM) are associated with respiratory infections and non-communicable diseases, posing a significant public health concern. This study evaluated the effectiveness of non-thermal plasma (NTP) for air disinfection and PM removal under real-world conditions. Chamber experiments were conducted using air artificially contaminated with PM, and reduction rates were compared between NTP and control groups.
BRAHMA represses STOP1-NRT1.1 module to control plant rhizosphere alkalization and acid stress adaptation - Nature Communications
Abstract Covering 40–50% of world’s arable lands, acidic soils pose a major constraint on global crop productivity by severely restricting root development and nutrient acquisition. The Arabidopsis C2H2-type transcription factor STOP1 plays a fundamental role in mitigating acid stress by activating H+/NO3− symport via NRT1.1, thereby driving rhizosphere alkalinization to protect root growth and improving nitrogen use efficiency (NUE).
Autoactive MtDMI1 Reprogrammes Immunity and Development in Tomato via Ethylene Signalling
1 Introduction Developing crop varieties that combine strong immunity with favourable developmental traits is a central goal of agricultural biotechnology. Arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis (AMS) and legume root nodule symbiosis (RNS) are ancient and specialised strategies for nutrient acquisition, both controlled by the conserved Common Symbiosis Signalling Pathway (CSSP) (Kistner and Parniske 2002; Parniske 2008; Vernié et al. 2025).

This practice facilitates the traceability of clinical trial outcomes and enhances the public availability and transparency of trial information (1). ClinicalTrials.gov is an online platform and database that provides detailed information on clinical research studies and their outcomes.
Generation and modulation of off-axis photonic nanojets via gradient-index microcylinders
This work presents an innovative exploration of generating and modulating off-axis photonic nanojets (PNJs) using gradient refractive index (GRIN) microcylinders with asymmetric profiles. The modulation effects of refractive index gradient, average refractive index, environmental factors, and microcylinder rotation on off-axis PNJ properties are systematically investigated.
Compact terahertz TE-pass polarizer with a high-polarized-extinction ratio based on the graphene hybrid plasmonic waveguide
A compact, high-performance TE-pass polarizer for the terahertz (THz) band is demonstrated, achieving an ultra-high polarization extinction ratio (PER) and low insertion loss (IL) through a graphene-integrated hybrid plasmonic waveguide (GHPW). By exploiting the transverse graphene–${{\rm SiO}_2}$–Si structure, the undesired TM mode is effectively suppressed while the TE mode is confined with minimal loss.

Modulation of super-diffraction-limited chain hotspots via standing wave interference of coaxial photonic nanojets
This work presents a novel method, to our best knowledge, for generating and modulating super-diffraction-limited chain hotspots through standing wave interference of coaxial photonic nanojets (PNJs). The proposed photonic nanojet-controlled optical chain (PNJ-chain) is formed by the constructive interference of a pair of rod-like PNJs (r-PNJs), generated by illuminating cylindrical particles with radially polarized light.
Compact and ultra-low-loss hybrid plasmonic waveguide polarization mode converter for efficient TE-to-TM transformation
A compact and ultra-low loss TE-to-TM polarization mode converter based on a hollow hybrid plasmonic waveguide is presented in this work. The incorporation of an air region in the hollow structure results in a refractive index as low as 1, enabling near-lossless mode propagation and conversion. Through the delicate design of multi-functional sections and the optimization of structural dimensions, efficient conversion from the TE mode to the TM mode is achieved.

Compact, low-loss, and high-polarized-extinction ratio terahertz TM-pass polarizer based on a hybrid plasmonic waveguide with a graphene ridge
A compact, low-loss, and high-polarized-extinction ratio TM-pass polarizer based on a graphene hybrid plasmonic waveguide (GHPW) has been demonstrated for the terahertz band. A ridge coated by a graphene layer and the hollow HPW with a semiround arch (SRA) Si core is introduced to improve structural compactness and suppress the loss. Based on this, a TM-pass polarizer has been designed that can effectively cut off the unwanted TE mode, and the TM mode passes with negligible loss.
Achieving focal invariance in different background refractive indices through a dual-environment metalens
A conventional metalens is designed with a fixed working environment, and its focal length depends on the background refractive index. In this study, we propose a dual-environment metalens that can maintain the same focal length in both media of air and water. The metalens consists of 16 types of meta-atoms with different geometries, which can cover the ${0}-{2}\pi$ phase range in both air and water.
Accessing the subleading-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude with large-momentum effective theory
Within the framework of large-momentum effective theory (LaMET), we propose a hard-collinear factorization formula to extract the subleading-twist B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) from the quasidistribution amplitude calculated on the lattice. The one-loop matching coefficient and an integro-differential equation governing the evolution of the quasidistribution amplitude are derived.
The LRR receptor-like kinase ALR1 is a plant aluminum ion sensor - Cell Research
Abstract Plant survival requires an ability to adapt to differing concentrations of nutrient and toxic soil ions, yet ion sensors and associated signaling pathways are mostly unknown. Aluminum (Al) ions are highly phytotoxic, and cause severe crop yield loss and forest decline on acidic soils which represent ∼30% of land areas worldwide. Here we found an Arabidopsis mutant hypersensitive to Al. The gene encoding a leucine-rich-repeat receptor-like kinase, was named Al Resistance1 (ALR1).

Divergence between Hemichannel and Gap Junction Permeabilities of Connexin 30 and 26
1. Introduction Connexin hemichannels have been suggested to play various physiological functions by releasing large molecules from cells, such as prostaglandins [1], NAD+ [2] and ATP [3]. Cx30 proteins are widely distributed in the brain, skin, cochlea and kidney and are frequently co-expressed with the closely related Cx26.
Matching the $B$-meson quasidistribution amplitude in the RI/MOM scheme
Abstract Within the framework of large-momentum effective theory, the light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) of the B meson in heavy-quark effective theory can be extracted from lattice calculations of the quasidistribution amplitude through the hard-collinear factorization formula. This quasiquantity can be renormalized in a regularization-independent momentum subtraction (RI/MOM) scheme.
Underwater-art: Expanding information perspectives with text templates for underwater acoustic target recognition
No Access The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America 152, 2641 (2022); https://doi.org/10.1121/10.0015053 Underwater acoustic target recognition is an intractable task due to the complex acoustic source characteristics and sound propagation patterns. Limited by insufficient data and narrow information perspective, recognition models based on deep learning seem far from satisfactory in practical underwater scenarios.
Inverse moment of the $B$-meson quasidistribution amplitude
Abstract We perform a study on the structure of the inverse moment (IM) of quasidistributions, by taking B-meson quasidistribution amplitude (quasi-DA) as an example. Based on a one-loop calculation, we derive the renormalization group equation and velocity evolution equation for the first IM of quasi-DA.

Abstract A compact and low loss TM-pass polarizer based on a hybrid plasmonic waveguide (HPW) has been demonstrated. By introducing the hollow HPW with a semiround arch (SRA) Si core, the unwanted TE mode can be effectively cut off and the TM mode can pass through by hybrid plasmonic mode with excellent transmission characteristics.
Predicting the eigenstructures of metamaterials with QR-code meta-atoms by deep learning
Abstract Deep neural networks (DNNs) facilitate the reverse design of metamaterial perfect absorbers (MPAs), usually by predicting the MPA structure from the input absorptivity. However, this suffers from the difficulty that the spectrum that actually exists is unknown before the structure is known. We propose an MPA structure with quick response (QR)-code meta-atoms and construct a novel DNN to predict and reverse design the eigenstructures by inputting designated eigenfrequencies.
Focusing characteristics of cylindrical vector beams through a multi-focal all-dielectric grating lens
Abstract A novel, to the best of our knowledge, type of multi-focal all-dielectric grating lens is proposed in this work, and focusing characteristics of cylindrical vector beams through the lens are investigated in detail. Based on the negative refraction mechanism of negative-first-order diffraction and Fermat’s principle, a multi-focal lens is designed. By analyzing the diffraction effect of the grating, the essential factor that affects the focus quality is found.

Compact general interference hybrid-plasmonic multimode interferometers used for optical hybrid
Abstract We propose three general interference multimode interferometers (MMIs) based on hybrid plasmonic waveguides (HPWs). Among them, the general 2×2 and 4×4 MMIs are designed for a 90° optical hybrid, while the 3×3 MMI is for a 120° optical hybrid. First, by considering the mode interference characteristics inside the multimode HPWs, a compromise between the number of guided modes and the device length is obtained at a determined height of the SiO2 interlayer of the HPW.
