Revolutionary roads to tourists’ well-being: gratitude and citizenship behaviour effects of dark heritage tourism
ABSTRACT An essential gap exists in understanding the positive behavioural outcomes of participating in dark heritage tourism. This study, grounded in the Stimulus-Organism-Response theory and the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions, examines the impact of a unique type of dark heritage tourism – red tourism – on tourists’ citizenship behaviour, gratitude, and well-being.
Computer Science > Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition
On-policy distillation (OPD) transfers capabilities through teacher predictions on student-generated sequences, as studied by GKD and MiniLLM for language models and Video-OPD for video tasks. We ask how internal supervision can further support temporal learning. Direct hidden-state alignment does not explicitly use the student's temporal responses to choose a supervision direction.
The Gut–Liver–Brain Axis in Neurodegeneration: Unraveling Metabolic–Immune Crosstalk from Peripheral Sensing to Central Vulnerability
Submitted: 05 October 2026 You are already at the latest version Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) have traditionally been regarded as brain-centered disorders driven primarily by the accumulation of pathological proteins. However, increasing evidence indicates that systemic metabolic dysfunction, chronic inflammation, intestinal dysbiosis, hepatic abnormalities, and barrier impairment may substantially influence disease susceptibility and progression.
The pan-immune-inflammation value predicts stroke-associated pneumonia and poor outcome in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage: a machine learning approach
Abstract Objective: Stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) constitutes a major complication following spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH), posing a significant clinical challenge for accurate prediction. This study aimed to evaluate whether integrating the pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) enhances the predictive performance of machine learning (ML) models for SAP and poor functional outcome. Methods: A retrospective cohort of 371 sICH patients was analyzed.
A five-phase evaluation framework for diagnostic and predictive medical artificial intelligence
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) has advanced rapidly across diagnostic, prognostic, and clinical decision-support applications, yet the pathway from laboratory performance to demonstrable clinical benefit remains fragmented and inconsistently defined. Existing evaluations rely heavily on retrospective testing and algorithm-centric metrics, while current guidelines emphasize reporting standards rather than specifying validation across stages of model maturity.
Association between extreme heat exposure and risk of preterm birth and its effect modifiers: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Abstract Extreme heat is an intensifying environmental stressor, with pregnant women identified as a highly vulnerable population. Although prior researches have examined heat exposure and preterm birth (PTB), inconsistencies in heat definitions and limited evaluation of effect modifiers hinder clear interpretation. To systematically evaluate the association between extreme heat exposure (including temperature percentiles and heatwaves) and PTB risk.
Integrin α4β1 signaling modulates cell spreading and migration by dynamic regulation of paxillin expression
Abstract Leukocyte adhesion and migration are fundamental processes in immune responses, relying on the precise spatiotemporal regulation of integrin-mediated signaling. Although paxillin is known to function as a crucial adaptor protein in adhesion complexes, how its expression is regulated during dynamic cell motility remains unclear. Here, we report that integrin α4β1 ligand binding triggers a rapid transient transcriptional upregulation of paxillin during T cell adhesion and spreading.
Economic and social modulations of innate decision-making in mice exposed to visual threats
Value-based decision-making—where choices arise from comparisons of the subjective value of expected outcomes—is a well-established framework for understanding behavior across species (Rangel et al., 2008). Prospect theory, which accounts for decision-making under risk in humans (Kahneman and Tversky, 1979), has been applied to learned decision-making in rodents (Constantinople et al., 2019).
Alpha-linolenic acid in cancer: a predictive fate-switch framework for tumor lipid reprogramming
Abstract Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is the major plant-derived omega-3 fatty acid in human diets, yet its relevance to cancer is often narrowly interpreted as a precursor to eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid. Here we propose a predictive fate-switch framework that treats ALA as a dietary lipid input whose biological output is dictated by tumor-intrinsic routing after uptake.
Efficacy and safety of B7-H3-targeted antibody-drug conjugates in previously treated small cell lung cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis with a contextual comparison to topotecan
Abstract Objective: B7-H3-targeted antibody-drug conjugates (B7-H3-targeted ADCs) have shown promising antitumor effects in patients with previously treated small cell lung cancer (SCLC), yet the available evidence on their efficacy and safety has not been systematically synthesized. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of B7-H3-targeted ADCs and contextualize their clinical outcomes against standard-dose intravenous topotecan.
Ferroptosis modulation enhances astrocyte-to-neuron conversion induced by a novel chemical cocktail in the hemorrhagic brain
Abstract Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) leads to significant neuronal loss and glial scar formation, but the regenerative capacity of the adult brain remains limited. Although small-molecule-induced astrocyte-to-neuron (AtN) conversion has shown promise in vitro, in vivo applications—particularly under pathological conditions—are still scarce. We aimed to develop and validate a small-molecule cocktail for inducing astrocyte-to-neuron reprogramming in vivo following ICH.
Single-cell profiling of natural killer/T-cell lymphoma reveals stratified immune features and potential therapeutic implications
Abstract Tumor cell heterogeneity and interactions with the immune microenvironment play a key role in the progression and therapeutic efficacy of natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL). We perform single-cell RNA sequencing analysis of 63 samples, integrating spatial transcriptomics, bulk transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to dissect inter- and intra-tumoral heterogeneity.
Longitudinal characterization of mosaic chromosomal alterations identifies factors influencing clonal dynamics of leukocytes
Abstract Characterizing the variation in clonal trajectory of age-related mosaic chromosomal alterations (mCAs) in circulating leukocytes can identify etiologic factors influencing clonal expansion and hematologic malignancy risk.
Identification of CCL4-positive macrophages and their associated immune microenvironment in thymic epithelial tumors
Abstract Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are one of the primary tumor types in the mediastinum, originating from thymic epithelial cells. Recent studies have highlighted the close association between specific macrophage subpopulations and the tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment. However, the characteristics and immunological functions of macrophages within TETs are still poorly understood.

Multi-Scale Signaling Functions of Food-Derived Lipids in Health and Disease: Recent Advances and Implications for Precision Nutrition
You are already at the latest version Food-derived lipids are not only major sources of dietary energy but are increasingly recognized as active signaling molecules and dynamic regulators of immunometabolic homeostasis. This review proposes an integrated framework of multi-scale lipid signaling organized around four major regulatory axes: immune-inflammation, metabolic reprogramming, membrane structural dynamics, and organelle stress responses.
Mediterranean Diet in Neurodegenerative Diseases: Recent Advances from Gut–Immune–Brain Axis to Multi-Omics Guided Precision Nutrition
You are already at the latest version Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD) are increasingly understood as systemic disorders driven by chronic neuroinflammation, metabolic dysregulation, and barrier dysfunction, which interact dynamically along the gut–immune–brain axis. The Mediterranean diet rich in plant-based foods, olive oil, and fish, is consistently associated with reduced cognitive decline and neurodegeneration risk.
Core Active Ingredients and Therapeutic Targets of Yiguanjian for Liver Fibrosis: A Computational and Genetic Inference-based Study
Liver fibrosis is a pathological condition present in most chronic liver diseases, characterized by excessive proliferation and deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) within liver tissue. This process leads to abnormal alterations in liver architecture and impairs normal liver function. Fundamentally, liver fibrosis represents an excessive repair response following chronic liver injury, which can become irreversible over time.
