Substrate coupling and inhibition in human Na + -dependent Cl − /HCO 3 − exchanger NCBE (SLC4A10)
Abstract Maintaining pH homoeostasis is essential for neuronal excitability and for regulating cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The Na⁺-dependent Cl⁻/HCO3⁻ exchanger, NCBE (SLC4A10), abundant in the choroid plexus, contributes to CSF pH control by mediating bicarbonate flux, yet its molecular mechanism has remained unclear.
Thymic neuroendocrine tumours: molecular landscape, immune microenvironment and therapeutic perspectives
Introduction Thymic neuroendocrine tumours (T-NETs) are exceptionally rare malignancies, with an annual incidence of approximately 0.01–0.02 per 100 000 and accounting for <5% of thymic neoplasms [1, 2].
Pomegranate seed oil alleviates renal lipid deposition and fibrosis in diabetic kidney disease mice
Abstract Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a major microvascular complication of diabetes, with renal lipid deposition being a key pathogenic driver. Pomegranate seed oil (PSO) has a variety of health benefits, but the specific mechanism for alleviating DKD in mice has not been fully elucidated. This study found PSO reduced blood glucose levels and alleviated insulin resistance. Histological staining revealed PSO attenuated mesangial matrix deposition and fibrosis.

Diagnostic performance of strain ratio combined with conventional ultrasound for cervical lymph node metastasis in head and neck neoplasms
Abstract Cervical lymph node metastasis is a key prognostic factor in head and neck neoplasms, yet conventional ultrasound alone is limited by morphological overlap between metastatic and benign nodes. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of a combined model integrating the ultrasound strain elastography (USE)-derived strain ratio (SR) with conventional ultrasound parameters and to assess its superiority over individual parameters alone.
Layer-engineered quantum anomalous Hall effect in twisted rhombohedral graphene
Abstract Realizing programmable topological states in quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) insulators requires tuning their topological invariant, the Chern number C. Here we report a QAH platform based on twisted rhombohedral graphene, in which C becomes a programmable and electrically tunable degree of freedom. In twisted monolayer–multilayer (1 + N) rhombohedral graphene, we find QAH states with C = N, where the layer number N = 3, 4, 5 directly sets the Chern number.
Molecular signatures and lineage diversification of neurogenic and gliogenic radial glia in the gyrencephalic ferret cortex
Abstract Human exceptional cognition stems from evolutionarily derived cortical adaptations that drive expansive neurogenesis. In this study, we employ the gyrencephalic ferret model to systematically characterize the molecular profiles and lineage dynamics of cortical radial glia (RGs). By applying scRNA-Seq to ferret and human cortices, we identify conserved regulatory programs underlying cortical neurogenesis and gliogenesis.
Full scale optimization of an anaerobic/aerobic/anoxic process for nitrogen removal from low-strength municipal wastewater
Abstract Achieving advanced nitrogen removal in municipal wastewater treatment plants remains challenging under low-strength influent and seasonal temperature fluctuations. Here, we optimized a full-scale anaerobic/aerobic/anoxic process (40,000 m3/d) and evaluated its year-round performance for influent with biochemical oxygen demand of 49.1 ± 9.9 mg/L and total nitrogen of 18.2 ± 1.4 mg/L.
TPPU protects against seizures and seizure-associated comorbidities by inhibiting the Akt/mTOR signaling pathway in KA-induced convulsant mice
Abstract Background: Shared pathophysiological mechanisms exist between epilepsy and its associated comorbidities, with neuroinflammation playing a key role. 1-Trifluoromethoxyphenyl-3-(1-propionylpiperidin-4-yl) urea (TPPU) is a soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitor that exhibits potent, broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory effects by preventing the hydrolysis of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs).

Boosting RNA nanotherapeutics with V-ATPase activating non-inflammatory lipid nanoparticles to treat chronic lung injury - Nature Communications
Abstract Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are a promising platform for mRNA delivery. However, their use in inflammatory pulmonary diseases is limited by reactogenicity and suboptimal delivery. Here we develop a non-inflammatory LNP (NIF-LNP) by incorporating ursolic acid, identified from a natural product library, into a biodegradable, cationic phosphoramide-derived LNP formulation.
Unveiling ZBED4: A Prognostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target in Hepa
Introduction Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for approximately 75–85% of primary liver cancers1 and remains the third leading cause of cancer-related death globally, with an estimated 906,000 new cases and 830,000 deaths in 2020.2 The prognosis remains poor, especially in advanced stages, with 5-year survival rates below 20% in most regions.1 The treatment options for patients with HCC include surgical resection, radiofrequency ablation, and transarterial chemoembolization.
An efficient sequential method for enhanced landfill leachate treatment and detoxification: Electrocoagulation/permanganate, peroxymonosulfate-based process, and electro-peroxone
Given the rapid growth of population, urbanization, and industrial progress, it is predicted that by 2050, 3.4 billion tons of solid waste will be produced. This increase, particularly in urban regions, intensifies the challenge of managing and disposing of municipal solid waste (Hosseinikhah and Mokhtarani, 2023; Yu et al., 2022a). Sanitary landfilling is a proper and conventional method that is widely employed for waste management, especially in developing countries (Nabi et al., 2022).

Electric-Field Switchable Chirality in Rhombohedral Graphene Chern Insulators Stabilized by Tungsten Diselenide
Quantum anomalous Hall insulators, also known as zero-field Chern insulators, are materials that can conduct electricity along their edges without any energy loss. These materials also exhibit quantum Hall effects, where conductance in a 2D system takes on only precise, discrete values. Typically, this requires a strong magnetic field, but in these special insulators, it occurs naturally due to the material’s internal magnetism.

Discovery of Novel Diphenyl Acrylonitrile Derivatives That Promote Adult Rats’ Hippocampal Neurogenesis
1. Introduction It has been established that hippocampal neurogenesis in rodents, non-human primates, and humans persists throughout the life span [1], but it drops sharply in aged adults and Alzheimer’s Disease patients [2,3]. A positive correlation exists between higher numbers of neuroblasts and an enhanced cognitive status [2]. Therefore, regulating adult mammalian hippocampal neurogenesis through small molecules is a potential strategy for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders [4].
