Spatial partitioning of NSD2 defines H3K36me2 as an active mark for repetitive sequence activation
Abstract Histone H3 lysine 36 dimethylation (H3K36me2) plays a key role in transcriptional elongation and chromatin organization, yet how its deposition is spatially controlled across the genome remains unclear. Here, we identify TOP1 as a critical recruiter of the H3K36me2 methyltransferase NSD2 to gene bodies. Disruption of the TOP1–NSD2 interaction reduces H3K36me2 at gene bodies, impairs RNA polymerase II release, and represses transcription.

Ligand-receptor interactions induce and mediate regulatory functions of BATF3+ B cells
|
Abstract B cells express many protein ligands, yet their regulatory functions are incompletely understood. We profiled ligand expression across murine B sublineage cells, including those activated by defined receptor signals, and assessed their regulatory capacities and specificities through in silico analysis of ligand-receptor interactions. Consequently, we identified a B cell subset that expressed cytokine interleukin-27 (IL-27) and chemokine CXCL10.

The long-term effects of chemotherapy on normal blood cells - Nature Genetics
|
Abstract Several chemotherapeutic agents act by increasing DNA damage in cancer cells, triggering cell death. However, there is limited understanding of the extent and long-term consequences of collateral DNA damage in normal tissues. To investigate the impact of chemotherapy on mutation burdens and the cell population structure of normal tissue, we sequenced blood cell genomes from 23 individuals aged 3–80 years who were treated with a range of chemotherapy regimens.

Preparation and properties of quaternary copolymerized TPEG-based shrinkage reducing agent for cementitious materials
Abstract The shrinkage cracking of concrete will reduce the durability and bearing capacity of the structure, accelerate the corrosion of steel bars, and affect the safety and service life of buildings. Meanwhile, traditional polyether shrinkage reducers, while reducing drying shrinkage, will have adverse effects on mechanical properties and durability.
Geographic and age variations in mutational processes in colorectal cancer - Nature
|
Abstract Incidence rates of colorectal cancer vary geographically and have changed over time1. Notably, in the past two decades, the incidence of early-onset colorectal cancer, which affects individuals below 50 years of age, has doubled in many countries2,3,4,5. The reasons for this increase are unknown. Here we investigate whether mutational processes contribute to geographic and age-related differences by examining 981 colorectal cancer genomes from 11 countries.

Joint optimisation of bus trajectories and signal priority for multi-line transit corridors
The proposed study introduces a joint optimal control strategy for automated bus trajectories and signal priority to enhance transit corridor reliability, where the operations of multiple bus lines are hindered by differing control strategies. The optimization of bus acceleration maneuvers and signal priority schemes is performed concurrently to minimize bus schedule deviations.
Design of displacement-based viscous damper damping structures - Scientific Reports

The complexity of tobacco smoke-induced mutagenesis in head and neck cancer - Nature Genetics
Abstract Tobacco smoke, alone or combined with alcohol, is the predominant cause of head and neck cancer (HNC). We explore how tobacco exposure contributes to cancer development by mutational signature analysis of 265 whole-genome sequenced HNC samples from eight countries. Six tobacco-associated mutational signatures were detected, including some not previously reported.

Oxygen-defective ruthenium oxide as an efficient and durable electrocatalyst for acidic oxygen evolution reaction
Oxygen-defective ruthenium oxide as an efficient and durable electrocatalyst for acidic oxygen evolution reaction Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) is considered a promising technology for green hydrogen production in combination with renewable energy. However, the high cost and particularly the scarcity of iridium (Ir) for use as oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts in the anode severely impede large-scale deployment of PEMWE.

CCL25 contributes to the pathogenesis of D‐Gal/LPS‐induced acute liver failure
Background and Aim Acute liver failure (ALF) is a fatal clinical syndrome of severe hepatic dysfunction. Chemokines promote liver diseases by recruiting and activating immune cells. We aimed to investigate the role of C–C chemokine ligand 25 (CCL25) in ALF. Methods An ALF mouse model induced by D-galactosamine/lipopolysaccharide was evaluated through liver hematoxylin and eosin staining and serum transaminase and cytokine measurement.

Geographic variation of mutagenic exposures in kidney cancer genomes - Nature

Abstract International differences in the incidence of many cancer types indicate the existence of carcinogen exposures that have not yet been identified by conventional epidemiology make a substantial contribution to cancer burden1. In clear cell renal cell carcinoma, obesity, hypertension and tobacco smoking are risk factors, but they do not explain the geographical variation in its incidence2.

Locally Strained 2D Materials: Preparation, Properties, and Applications
Two-dimensional (2D) materials are promising for strain engineering due to their atomic thickness and exceptional mechanical properties. In particular, non-uniform and localized strain can be induced in 2D materials by generating out-of-plane deformations, resulting in novel phenomena and properties as witnessed in recent years. Therefore, the locally strained 2D materials are of great value for both fundamental studies and practical applications.

One-step hydrothermal synthesis of Se-doped NiTe electrocatalysts for efficient hydrogen production from saline water assisted by the anodic iodide oxidation Hydrogen production through direct seawater electrolysis has shown substantial promise because of the abundance of seawater and the favorable possibility of combining offshore solar and wind with water electrolysis to produce green hydrogen. However, direct seawater electrolysis currently still faces formidable technical challenges.

Self-torqued harmonics and attosecond pulses driven by time-delayed relativistic vortex lasers
Abstract Light carrying time-varying orbital angular momentum (OAM) is a recently discovered type of structured electromagnetic field compared with a typical vortex field whose OAM is static. Such so-called self-torqued light is employed for manipulating the fast magnetic, topological, and quantum excitations and increasing its intensity and having access to shorter pulse durations would be of great benefit.
