Targeting HCK in M1 macrophages alleviates postoperative abdominal adhesions by suppressing NF-κB/IL6 axis-driven mesothelial-to-mesenchymal transition
Abstract Postoperative abdominal adhesions (PAAs) are the result of excessive or prolonged inflammation. M1 macrophages are the primary producers of proinflammatory cytokines; however, their direct contribution to PAAs and the underlying mechanism remain unclear. The results of our previous study and public database analysis revealed that peritoneal injury induced M1 macrophage infiltration with specific hematopoietic cell kinase (HCK) upregulation.

New insight into light utilization efficiency: an evaluation of semitransparent solar cells for building-integrated photovoltaic windows
Abstract Semitransparent solar cells hold significant potential for application in energy-efficient buildings. The light utilization efficiency (LUE), defined as the product of power conversion efficiency (PCE) and average visible transmittance (AVT), is widely adopted as the figure of merit for semitransparent solar cells. However, their performance evaluation is complicated by the inherent trade-off between PCE and AVT.

Nucleic Acid Drugs in Radiotherapy
Radiotherapy remains a cornerstone of cancer treatment, using high-energy radiation to induce DNA damage in tumor cells, leading to cell death. However, its efficacy is often hindered by challenges such as radiation resistance and side effects. As a powerful class of functional molecules, nucleic acid drugs (NADs) present a promising solution to these limitations. Engineered to target key pathways like DNA repair and tumor hypoxia, NADs can enhance radiotherapy sensitivity.

Complete biosynthesis of QS-21 in engineered yeast - Nature
Abstract QS-21 is a potent vaccine adjuvant and remains the only saponin-based adjuvant that has been clinically approved for use in humans1,2. However, owing to the complex structure of QS-21, its availability is limited. Today, the supply depends on laborious extraction from the Chilean soapbark tree or on low-yielding total chemical synthesis3,4. Here we demonstrate the complete biosynthesis of QS-21 and its precursors, as well as structural derivatives, in engineered yeast strains.

The receptor binding domain of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron subvariants targets Siglec-9 to decrease its immunogenicity by preventing macrophage phagocytosis - Nature Immunology
Abstract The development of a vaccine specific to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 Omicron has been hampered due to its low immunogenicity. Here, using reverse mutagenesis, we found that a phenylalanine-to-serine mutation at position 375 (F375S) in the spike protein of Omicron to revert it to the sequence found in Delta and other ancestral strains significantly enhanced the immunogenicity of Omicron vaccines.
An Engineered IGF2 Mutant for Lysosomal Targeting Chimeras Development and Membrane Proteins Degradation
Abstract Lysosome-targeting chimeras (LYTACs) have emerged as a promising strategy for targeted degradation of membrane proteins, offering potential applications in drug development. Currently, two main methods for developing LYTACs exist: chemically modified antibodies and wild-type insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) fusion proteins (iLYTACs). However, the fusion of the IGF2 arm within iLYTACs carries the risk of activating IGF1R tyrosine kinase activity and promoting tumor development.
Optimization of Internet of Things Remote Desktop Protocol for Low-Bandwidth Environments Using Convolutional Neural Networks
1. Introduction Remote desktops, which are essential in various sectors such as cloud computing and wireless sensor networks [1], face challenges with the growth of display resolutions. For instance, a 4K resolution desktop image, uncompressed, demands about 23.73 MB per frame. At 60 Hz, this equates to a bandwidth of roughly 1.39 GB/s. Such high bandwidth consumption can degrade user experience.
Frontiers | Risk stratification of gastric cancer screening in community population based on oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography examination: A 3-year follow-up analysis report
1 Introduction According to the latest report, gastric cancer (GC) has the fifth-highest incidence rate and the third-highest mortality rate worldwide among all malignant tumors (1). Moreover, nearly half of the global incident cases of GC and deaths as a result of GC occur in China. Unfortunately, more than 90% of these incident cases are advanced GC (2). Therefore, early screening for GC is particularly important (3).
Phase separation of BuGZ regulates gut regeneration and aging through interaction with m6A regulators - Nature Communications
Abstract Exploring the role of phase separation in intracellular compartment formation is an active area of research. However, the associations of phase separation with intestinal stem cell (ISC)-dependent regeneration and aging remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate that BuGZ, a coacervating mitotic effector, shows age- and injury-associated condensation in Drosophila ISC nuclei during interphase. BuGZ condensation promotes ISC proliferation, affecting Drosophila gut repair and longevity.
