Wealthy countries are able to find synergies between climate action and other development goals, and while this is possible for low- and middle-income countries as well, the barriers to those kinds of investments are higher. Access to financial support as well as resources to help design and implement these high-payoff strategies are key to ensuring a just energy transition.

DOI: 10.1016/j.joule.2026.102531 Electric vehicle batteries could last twice as long, preventing costly replacement, with a new approach to heating and cooling the batteries, according to a study led by University of Michigan Engineering. The system is designed to work with voltage and charging data that today's battery management systems already collect, rather than requiring new sensors inside the battery.
