Peak-transmittance-tunable multimode interference (MMI) coupler
In large-scale optical phased arrays (OPAs), longitudinal beam steering via wavelength tuning typically forces multimode interference (MMI) couplers to deviate from their optimal design points, inducing substantial insertion loss. While this degradation may be negligible in discrete components, the excess loss rapidly accumulates within cascaded optical splitting networks, severely bottlenecking the system’s overall optical power budget.
Fatty acid-binding protein 2 suppresses liver metastasis by cytoplasmic sequestration of β-catenin to enhance ferroptosis sensitivity in colon cancer
Abstract Metastatic colon cancer commonly exhibits resistance to ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death driven by lipid peroxidation. However, the mechanisms linking metabolic regulation to ferroptosis during metastatic progression remain incompletely understood. Here, we identified fatty acid-binding protein 2 (FABP2) as a regulator associated with ferroptosis sensitivity and liver metastatic phenotypes in colon cancer.
TMEM63B regulates nucleocytoplasmic transport and placental development
Abstract The placental development requires coordinated trophoblast proliferation and differentiation, processes tightly coupled to cell cycle control. Here, we identify TMEM63B, an osmo/mechano-sensitive ion channel, as a key regulator of trophoblast cell cycle progression and placental development. TMEM63B modulates nucleocytoplasmic transport (NCT) by stabilizing NCT components, which govern the nuclear shuttling of key cell cycle regulators in response to osmo/mechanical cues.
Neuroligin1 in CCK-interneurons gates social memory formation via a disinhibitory microcircuit in the hippocampal CA2 in male mice
Abstract Social memory is essential for daily life, and its impairment is associated with psychiatric disorders. The dorsal CA2 (dCA2) region of the hippocampus is known to support social memory formation, yet how it processes social information remains unclear. Here we show that, in male mice, a specific group of dCA2 neurons—cholecystokinin-positive interneurons (CCK-INs)—acts as a hub that receives social cues and activates dCA2 pyramidal neurons (PyNs).
Expert consensus on treatment of condylar hyperplasia and secondary dento-maxillofacial deformities
|
Abstract Condylar hyperplasia (CH), characterized by progressive facial deviation, occlusion disorders, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction, often requires combined temporomandibular joint (TMJ)-orthognathic interventions to reconstruct joint and occlusal functions as well as rebuilding harmonious facial expressions. Managing the dentomaxillofacial deformities secondary to CH involves hyperplastic condylar resection, orthognathic surgery, facial contour surgery and orthodontic treatment.

A novel virtual machine placement algorithm based on grey wolf optimization - Journal of Cloud Computing
The GWO algorithm is inspired by the leadership hierarchy of grey wolves [15]. Grey wolves are at the top of the food chain. There are four types of grey wolves within the leadership hierarchy. These are alpha (\(\alpha\)), beta (\(\beta\)), delta (\(\delta\)) and omega (\(\omega\)) wolves. In the GWO algorithm, alpha wolves represent the solution with the best result. Beta and delta wolves represent the second and third best solutions in the population. Omega wolves are the best solution candidates.

Targeting DDX11 promotes PARP inhibitor sensitivity in hepatocellular carcinoma by attenuating BRCA2-RAD51 mediated homologous recombination - Oncogene
Abstract Homologous recombination (HR) is a major DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair pathway of clinical interest because of treatment with poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi). Cooperation between RAD51 and BRCA2 is pivotal for DNA DSB repair, and its dysfunction induces HR deficiency and sensitizes cancer cells to PARPi. The depletion of the DEAD-box protein DDX11 was found to suppress HR in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells.

Two zinc-binding domains in the transporter AdcA from Streptococcus pyogenes facilitate high-affinity binding and fast transport of zinc
Zinc is an essential metal in bacteria. One important bacterial zinc transporter is AdcA, and most bacteria possess AdcA homologs that are single-domain small proteins due to better efficiency of protein biogenesis. However, a double-domain AdcA with two zinc-binding sites is significantly overrepresented in Streptococcus species, many of which are major human pathogens.
