Incremental value of the perivascular fat attenuation index surrounding the superior mesenteric artery on non-contrast CT for predicting SMA abnormalities in patients with acute abdominal pain
Abstract Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of the perivascular fat attenuation index (FAI) surrounding the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) on non-contrast CT for SMA abnormalities in acute abdominal pain and FAI's incremental utility in risk models. Methods: This retrospective study included 262 acute abdominal pain patients (77 with SMA abnormalities, 185 controls) admitted between January 2020 and December 2025. All underwent non-contrast and contrast-enhanced CT within 48 h.
Repulsive guidance molecule-a regulates neutrophil-associated Th17 responses in CNS autoimmunity
Abstract Background and aim: Repulsive guidance molecule-A (RGMa) is well-known for its roles in T-cell-mediated neuroinflammation and CNS repair. Innate-adaptive immune interactions, particularly between neutrophils and Th17 cells, are emerging as critical drivers of neuroinflammatory pathology in multiple sclerosis (MS). Whether RGMa regulates these neutrophil-associated Th17 responses remains largely unknown. Elucidating this mechanism may reveal novel therapeutic targets for MS.
Loss of schizophrenia risk gene XPO7 disrupts neuronal excitability and network regularity via altered Na + channel dynamics in human neurons
Abstract Schizophrenia is a highly heritable psychiatric disorder, yet the molecular mechanisms by which genetic risk contributes to disease pathophysiology remain largely unknown. In this study, we investigate the functional consequences of XPO7 loss of function (LoF) in human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons, focusing on its role as a schizophrenia risk gene identified through recent large-scale exome sequencing analyses.

Flyway‐Scale Assessment of Habitat Suitability and Key Environmental Drivers for Waterbirds in Southern China
1 Introduction Birds are widely used as bioindicators of ecosystem condition because they are well monitored, ecologically diverse, and responsive to environmental change (Qiu et al. 2024; Mekonen 2017). Within this group, waterbirds are especially informative for ecological monitoring and conservation because they combine long-distance migratory connectivity with strong fidelity to wetland habitats, linking pressures across seasons to site-level, measurable change (Panov et al. 2023; Amano et al.
Mechanisms of light harvesting complex proteins in photoprotection of the brown tide alga - Nature Communications
Abstract The propensity of Aureococcus anophagefferens to form harmful brown tide blooms has been linked to rapid light responses, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we find that two glutamic residues in plastid luminal and C terminal domains in light harvesting complex (LHC) proteins are crucial to the alga’s unique photoadaptation capacity. Specifically, we demonstrate that glutamate residues contribute to the induction of non-photochemical quenching (NPQ).
Characterization of the functional and clinical impacts of CACNA1A missense variants found in neurodevelopmental disorders
Editor’s summary Point mutations in the gene encoding the CaV2.1 voltage–gated calcium channel are linked to a range of neurodevelopmental disorders. Here, Kurganov et al. performed patch-clamp recordings on cell models expressing 42 de novo CACNA1A missense variants and used a computational model to characterize how channel dysfunctions caused by these mutations affect neuronal activity.
The microbial metabolite I3A inhibits ferroptosis and the effectiveness of redox-based cancer therapy
Keywords Ferroptosis tumor therapy Indole-3-aldehyde AHR JNK/JUN DNA damage Lactobacillus reuteri 1 Introduction Ferroptosis is a regulated, non-apoptotic, iron-dependent cell death characterized by excessive lipid peroxidation and a distinct redox-metabolic signature1,2. Ferrous iron catalyzes the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) via Fenton chemistry, amplifying membrane damage through uncontrolled phospholipid hydroperoxide generation.

Identifying and tracking method for the beacon in intersatellite laser communications based on the fractional Fourier transform
In satellite-to-satellite optical communications, accurate beacon tracking necessitates two optical terminals. However, during tracking, star background light noise in the receiver’s charge-coupled device field of view interferes with beacon light identification, impairing system performance and communication stability, and potentially disrupting the laser communication link.

The effect of repetition on word recognition in Chinese sentence reading
ABSTRACT We report three eye-tracking experiments in Chinese investigating the effect of parafoveal word repetition on reading by using the gaze-contingent boundary paradigm to manipulate the preview readers received of a target character. The preview could be identical to the target character, a repetition of the preceding character, an unrelated character, or a pseudocharacter.
Development of a combustion reaction kinetic model of heavy fuel oil for marine engine
ABSTRACT Heavy fuel oil (HFO) is commonly used in the ocean transportation industry due to its low cost, which helps reduce transportation expenses. However, its composition is complex and contains many components with high carbon number, so it is difficult to construct reaction kinetics model.

Spray performance of flexible shield canopy opener and rotor wind integrated boom‐sprayer application in soybean: effects on droplet deposition distribution
BACKGROUND Canopy density is high during mid-to-late soybean growth as a result of dense planting to improve yield, which seriously affects the control of pests and diseases. The dilemmas of difficult droplet penetration, nonuniform deposition, and droplet drift in field spraying remain challenges to the precise control of droplet distribution. This paper proposed a novel spraying application mode combined flexible shield canopy opener (FSCO) with rotor wind.

Study of Cu Content Reference Materials Used in AlCu Films for X-ray Energy/Wavelength-Dispersive Spectrometer Calibration
1. Introduction Characteristic X-rays of the contained elements in a material sample can be obtained by bombarding the sample with a high-energy electron beam. The characteristic X-ray of each element has characteristic energy and characteristic wavelength. After the characteristic energy or wavelength of an element has been mapped into a spectrum, it is compared with the standard spectrum position of the element, and then the species of the element can be determined.

Fixed‐time disturbance observer based distributed cooperative containment control with fixed‐time anti‐saturation compensator for multi‐unmanned aerial vehicles
Abstract This article proposes a fixed-time backstepping distributed cooperative containment control scheme for multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A fixed-time compensator is designed for the fixed-wing UAVs actuator saturation problem. Based on this, an improved fixed-time disturbance observer is proposed for the problem of the excessive initial peak. The problem of “complexity explosion” is solved by the fixed-time differential filter.
