Body weight–normalized resting metabolic rate and its associations with malnutrition and sarcopenia in hospitalized older adults: a cross-sectional study
Abstract Background: Malnutrition and sarcopenia are major contributors to frailty, functional decline, and mortality in older adults. Although the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria provide a standardized framework for diagnosing malnutrition, they do not incorporate physiological measures of metabolic function.
Cerebral aqueduct CSF dynamics by diffusion tensor imaging and its association with glymphatic function and cognitive decline in alzheimer’s spectrum
Abstract Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) plays a critical role in maintaining brain homeostasis through the clearance of neurotoxic metabolites, yet the relationship between CSF dynamics and cognitive dysfunction remains unclear. This study examined the diffusion metrics of CSF water molecules in the cerebral aqueduct and their association with cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology, aiming to establish a non-invasive neuroimaging marker of CSF diffusion properties.
Regional juxtacortical microstructural changes and gene expression provide insights into neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease
Abstract White matter microstructural changes play a crucial role in cognitive decline in aging and neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer’s disease (AD). However, the processes underlying white matter microstructural changes and the molecular pathways leading to these changes in AD remain largely unknown. AD involves cortical and juxtacortical microstructural changes, with free water fraction (FWF) as a potential imaging marker.
Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma masked by multinodular goiter of the thyroid: a case report and diagnostic pitfall
Abstract Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), which is characterized by the proliferation of neoplastic B−lymphoid cells within the lumens of small and medium-sized blood vessels, especially capillaries. It is a rare and highly aggressive malignancy with frequent multi-organ involvement, most commonly affecting the central nervous system, bone marrow, spleen, skin and adrenal glands.
Energy-sensing molecule RORγ regulates cholesterol metabolism and immune signaling in diabetic kidney disease and aging - Nature Communications
Abstract Aging is a major risk factor for diabetic kidney disease (DKD), with both conditions exhibiting similar renal pathology. We identify the energy-sensing molecule Retinoic acid-related orphan receptor γ (RORγ) as significantly downregulated in diabetic and aged kidneys. Tubule-specific RORγ deficiency exacerbates kidney injury, whereas its overexpression protects.
Lactate orchestrates the TGFβ pathway and ferroptosis nexus in organ fibrosis via USP2 lactylation - Communications Biology
Abstract TGFβ1 and ferroptosis are key drivers of organ fibrosis, but their crosstalk remains unclear. This study aims to identify the key regulatory ubiquitin-specific protease (USP) in organ fibrosis, TGFβ signaling transduction, and ferroptosis.
I wish I could write.
I wish I could write. I wish I could spell. I wish I wasn’t dyslexic. I’ve only recently faced issues regarding my dyslexia. People have made fun of my grammar due to me misreading what I wrote . In my head, everything sounded perfect — I didn’t know I mistyped or said certain words and letters. Today we had a group project, they made fun of what I wrote and our group lost a point for it. I know they blamed me, I blamed myself too. I hated it, I hate myself so much.

Human neural stem cell-derived artificial organelles to improve oxidative phosphorylation - Nature Communications
Abstract Oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) in the mitochondrial inner membrane is a therapeutic target in many diseases. Neural stem cells (NSCs) show progress in improving mitochondrial dysfunction in the central nervous system (CNS). However, translating neural stem cell-based therapies to the clinic is challenged by uncontrollable biological variability or heterogeneity, hindering uniform clinical safety and efficacy evaluations.
Responses of Leaf Expansion, Plant Transpiration and Leaf Senescence of Different Soybean (Glycine max. (L.) Merr.) Genotypes to Soil Water Deficit
Leaf expansion, transpiration and senescence were studied for soybean cultivars in response to progressive soil water drying. Leaf expansion was first reduced by water deficit, then transpiration and senescence. The thresholds of FTSW were both process- and genotype-dependent. Soybean cultivars from the maturity groups (000 to II) adapted to European conditions showed differences in the sensitivity of leaf expansion to soil drying. SLA could be an indicator of drought tolerance for leaf expansion.

Inhibition of PFKP in renal tubular epithelial cell restrains TGF-β induced glycolysis and renal fibrosis - Cell Death & Disease
Abstract Metabolic reprogramming to glycolysis is closely associated with the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Although it has been reported that phosphofructokinase 1 (PFK) is a rate-limiting enzyme in glycolysis, the role of the platelet isoform of PFK (PFKP) in kidney fibrosis initiation and progression is as yet poorly understood.
Photoacid Generators for Biomedical Applications

SIRT2 alleviated renal fibrosis by deacetylating SMAD2 and SMAD3 in renal tubular epithelial cells - Cell Death & Disease
Abstract Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) is the primary factor that drives fibrosis in most, if not all, forms of chronic kidney disease. In kidneys that are obstructed, specific deletion of Sirt2 in renal tubule epithelial cells (TEC) has been shown to aggravate renal fibrosis, while renal tubule specific overexpression of Sirt2 has been shown to ameliorate renal fibrosis. Similarly, specific deletion of Sirt2 in hepatocyte aggravated CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis.
