We thank the authors for their thoughtful comments [1] and their careful appraisal of our study [2]. We agree that altered mental status in patients receiving baclofen may not always represent classical hepatic encephalopathy. As the authors note, baclofen itself can cause neurocognitive adverse effects, particularly in susceptible individuals.

We thank Dr. Salman for their interest in our study and for highlighting the ongoing challenges in managing alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) [1]. We agree that alcohol abstinence remains the cornerstone in the management and treatment of patients with ALD. Pharmacotherapeutic options for alcohol use disorder (AUD) in patients with cirrhosis are limited.
