This paper addresses fine-grained prosody control for large-language-model (LLM) based text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis of Mandarin Chinese, motivated by multimedia content-creation scenarios---film dubbing, audiobook production, and interactive voice interfaces---in which prosodic adjustments must be placed on specific characters rather than applied uniformly to whole utterances.
Signatures of the wild: seasonal variation of microbiome and diet in the mountain roaming semi-domesticated mithun, Bos frontalis
Abstract Mithun (Bos frontalis) is a semi-domesticated bovine native to the montane forests of the Eastern Himalayas, where it holds deep cultural significance, but its ecology is poorly understood. To better understand how mithun interact with their environment, we used metabarcoding to track their diet and the bacterial component of the rumen microbiome across four seasons over one year.
Multi-tissue mRNA-seq, miRNA-seq and single-cell RNA-seq data from heat-stressed lactating Holstein cows
Abstract We present a multi-tissue, multi-omics transcriptome dataset from lactating Holstein cows under heat stress (HS) or pair-fed thermoneutral (PFTN) conditions. The dataset comprises: (i) bulk mRNA-seq from five tissues (rumen epithelium, liver, mammary gland, subcutaneous adipose tissue and skeletal muscle); (ii) small RNA-seq (miRNA-seq) from adipose tissue and skeletal muscle; and (iii) single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).

Subnanometre PtSn alloyed clusters encapsulated in silicalite-1 sustain high productivity in propane dehydrogenation
Abstract Propane dehydrogenation (PDH) processes typically operate at low weight-hourly space velocities of about 10 h−1 to ensure catalyst stability, limiting propylene productivity to around 0.1 molC3H6 gcatalyst−1 h−1. Here we report that controlling the formation of subnanometre PtSn alloyed clusters encapsulated in silicalite-1 affords a catalyst that can sustain high propylene productivities.

Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans exacerbates colitis and perturbs the gut microbiota in a murine model
ABSTRACT Background Chronic intestinal inflammation is a hallmark of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Studies suggest that salivary bacteria associated with periodontitis may exacerbate colitis, but the specific contributory microbes and mechanisms remain unclear. Patients and methods We analyzed stool samples from 28 IBD patients and 21 controls. Bacterial DNA was extracted and quantified using qPCR targeting Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A. actinomycetemcomitans).
Nanoscopic strain evolution in single-crystal battery positive electrodes - Nature Nanotechnology
Abstract Single-crystal Ni-rich layered oxides (SC-NMC) with a grain-boundary-free configuration have effectively addressed the long-standing cracking issue of conventional polycrystalline Ni-rich materials (PC-NMC) in lithium-ion batteries, prompting a shift in optimization strategies.
Low-nickel cathode chemistry for sustainable and high-energy lithium-ion batteries - Nature Sustainability
Abstract The transition to sustainable energy storage demands lithium-ion batteries with high energy density and reduced reliance on critical metals such as nickel (Ni), yet current strategies to increase capacity have largely depended on raising Ni content, leading to escalating supply risks, rising costs and sustainability concerns.
Topotaxially grown composite cathodes for cobalt-free high-energy long-life Li-ion batteries - Nature Communications
Abstract The vehicle industry’s increasing demand for electrification necessitates the removal of expensive and rare cobalt from current high-energy batteries. However, eliminating cobalt poses challenges due to its vital role in maintaining the layered structural ordering and cycling stability of commonly used Li(NiMnCo)O2 cathodes.
A vision-based fusion approach to predict pedestrian crossing behavior for traffic conflict prevention
Abstract In the field of intelligent driving, predicting pedestrian crossing intentions (PPCI) is a critical research direction for keeping the pedestrian’s safety. This task holds substantial significance in addressing pedestrian-vehicle conflicts and enhancing traffic safety. However, how to effectively achieve spatio-temporal feature extraction and optimize feature fusion techniques remains a challenge.

Overview of Encapsulated Lysine and Methionine and Their Impacts on Transition Cow Performance and Health
1 Introduction The transition period is a serious phase in the production cycle for dairy cows [1, 2]. The transition period lasts approximately 1.5 months, 3 weeks pre-parturition through 21 days in milk (DIM) [1, 3]. During this time cows experience numerous stressful events, including group rearranging, diet modifications, calving, and the beginning of lactation [4, 5].

Abstract This study aims to assess the burden of young-onset dementia worldwide, regionally, and nationally during 1990–2021. Prevalence, incidence, mortality, and disability adjusted life years (DALYs) rates were used to estimate burden of the young-onset dementia. The average annual percentage was utilized to evaluate the trends during 1990–2021. Decomposition analysis was performed to explore driving factors behind changes.
Lattice-trapping synthesis enhances fixation of As(V) in As@zeolite P
Lattice-trapping synthesis enhances fixation of As(v) in As@zeolite P† Arsenic (As)(V) pollution in natural water poses a global health crisis, yet existing fixation technologies struggle with pH sensitivity and potential reactivation. In this study, an innovative lattice locking synthesis strategy was proposed, which used waste residues to treat As(V)aq-containing wastewater and at the same time realized lattice locking of As(V)aq, ensuring high stability immobilization in a wide pH range.

Does a more compact urban center layout matter in reducing household carbon emissions? Evidence from Chinese cities
Decarbonization has been considered a sustainable strategy against climate change and global warming (Solomon et al., 2009). As a large portion of carbon emissions comes from urban areas, building sustainable urban forms is one of the key strategies for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) worldwide (Sachs et al., 2019, United Nations, 2015). Scholars have paid attention to reducing carbon emissions by optimizing urban spatial forms (Hong et al., 2022; Shen et al., 2021).

Dissecting the mechanism of atlastin-mediated homotypic membrane fusion at the single-molecule level - Nature Communications
Abstract Homotypic membrane fusion of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is mediated by dynamin-like GTPase atlastin (ATL). This fundamental process relies on GTP-dependent domain rearrangements in the N-terminal region of ATL (ATLcyto), including the GTPase domain and three-helix bundle (3HB). However, its conformational dynamics during the GTPase cycle remain elusive. Here, we combine single-molecule FRET imaging and molecular dynamics simulations to address this conundrum.

Risk factors for agitation in home-cared older adults with dementia: evidence from 640 elders in East China
1. Introduction Dementia is a leading cause of disability in people older than 65 in China (Li et al., 2015; Charlson et al., 2016; Feigin et al., 2019). More than 55 million people live with dementia worldwide, and the number is expected to reach 78 million by 2030 (2022). In China, the incidence rate of dementia in older adults aged 60–69 years is 2.9%, and it reaches 31.9% in those over 90 years old (Jia et al., 2020).
