What was your first job as a journalist?

I have!

What does it mean to be a journalist?

As a meteorologist, my goal is to keep people safe. As an entertainment reporter, I strive to connect on a human level while having fun.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Social media is a natural fit for me as a story teller. I love the masspersonal platforms because you can build trust with your audience.

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram is my favorite social network.

Who do you wish followed you?

Oprah!

Why did you become a journalist?

To seek truth.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I take great pride in my coverage of the Kilauea lava flow. It was personal. My sister lost her home. Hurricane Lane coverage over Instagram.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Keep at it. Practice makes progress.

What's your favorite drink?

Fresh ginger tea

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Playing with my kids.

The Washington Post

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

"Ohhh how nice to do weather in HAWAII." We actually have every climate zone in the world (except the arctic tundra) & numerous risks.
