Today, we are expecting partly cloudy skies across the Rogue Valley, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s. Northwest winds will be present at 10 to 15 mph. Looking ahead to Tuesday, skies will be mainly sunny, and temperatures will remain in the mid-90s. Winds from the northwest will pick up slightly, ranging from 10 to 20 mph. The warm and sunny pattern persists into Wednesday, with highs settling into the low 90s under mainly sunny skies.

Thunderstorms are expected tonight, primarily east of the Cascades, with gusty winds possible in these areas. We anticipate these storms to gradually diminish by early Monday morning. Monday will see thunderstorms redevelop east of the Cascades in the afternoon, with a higher probability of lightning strikes in Lake County compared to typical conditions for early July. By Tuesday evening, a weather system will approach the Pacific Northwest.

Coastal areas from Florence to Brookings will see low clouds returning tonight after 8 PM. This Independence Day weekend sees warm conditions persist, with temperatures continuing in the low to mid-90s for much of the week. A change in the weather pattern is signaled by cloud buildups over northern California today. We are monitoring a weak, broad offshore trough that will track toward the coast.

Hotter weather for 4th of July weekend. We'll see plenty of sunshine on Independence Day. On Sunday, we'll see more in the way of clouds with the potential for some thunderstorms in our region.

Tonight: Skies will be clear tonight for much of the region with winds going light to calm. Some marine clouds and fog will drift back in along the coast tonight. Low temperatures will fall into the middle 50s in the Rogue Valley. Down in Siskiyou County, we'll fall into the lower to middle 50s.

The shelter opened an additional 40 beds today, with owner Bernie Woodard saying that this expansion will take more unhoused people off the streets and give them beds.

As people across our region celebrate America's birthday with legal fireworks and professional displays, emergency dispatchers are also preparing for a busy night.
