“Envbiotics” -- a novel framework for microbiota-targeted therapeutic strategies in type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract Imbalance of the gut microbiota is an important trigger for insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). Microbiota-targeted therapies have gradually become an emerging research direction for treating T2DM.
Sex- and age-specific musculoskeletal adverse events of isotretinoin: disproportionality analysis of the FAERS database combined with a clinical case series
Abstract Background: Isotretinoin is widely used for the treatment of acne and has been associated with musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorder adverse events However, existing research remains limited in terms of large-scale systematic investigations of these adverse effects.
Bidirectional regulation of social memory by two distinct types of GABAergic neurons in the lateral septum
Abstract Humans and animals memorize and recognize familiar conspecifics during social interactions, known as social memory. While the hippocampus is crucial for social memory, the dynamic regulation of social memory remains unclear. Here, using male mice, we identified two molecularly distinct subpopulations of GABAergic neurons in the mouse lateral septum (LS) expressing somatostatin (SST) and calbindin 1 (CB), respectively, with complementary distribution patterns.

Female predominance and socio-demographic inequalities in global near vision loss burden: projected trends and disparities from 1990 to 2035
1 Introduction According to the World Health Organization, between 2015 and 2050, the proportion of the global population aged over 60 years will nearly double (from 12 to 22%) (1). This unprecedented demographic shift means that age-related conditions, such as presbyopia, will affect an ever-growing number of people in the coming decades.

Loss-of-function variations in solute carrier family 38 member 6 are associated with essential tremor - Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy
Abstract Essential tremor (ET) is a common neurological disease that is characterized by 4–12 Hz kinetic tremors of the upper limbs and high genetic heterogeneity. Although numerous candidate genes and loci have been reported, the etiology of ET remains unclear. A novel ET-related gene was initially identified in a five-generation family via whole-exome sequencing, and other variants were identified in 772 familial ET probands and 640 sporadic individuals via whole-genome sequencing.

Unraveling endocannabinoid signaling disruption in a preclinical model of neurodevelopmental disorders
Abstract The search for transformative medicines has continuously uncovered select diseases associated with the disruption of the endocannabinoid (eCB) signaling system in the brain and emphasized the therapeutic value of small molecules that rescue this signaling system. In this issue of JCI, Wang et al. report that genetic disruption of PPP2R1A function in mouse forebrain, a preclinical mouse model of neurodevelopmental disorders, resulted in pronounced impairment of eCB signaling.

FeCl3-Catalyzed Oxidative Diselenylation of Pyrrole-tethered Indoles
FeCl3-Catalyzed Oxidative Diselenylation of Pyrrole-tethered Indoles A mild and efficient FeCl3-catalyzed oxidative diselenylation of pyrrole-tethered indoles has been reached by using RSeSeR as the source of selenium and mCPBA (m-chloroperoxybenzoic acid) as the oxidant (17-70% yield). In addition, this selenylation strategy can be expanded to the functionalization of tryptophan derivative and melatonin at the C-2 position of indole moiety (55-58% yield).

Single-frequency pulsed fiber laser based on an electro-optic modulator with injection seeding technique
A single-frequency linearly polarization pulsed fiber laser based on an electro-optic modulator with injection seeding technique is demonstrated. The single-frequency performance of the fiber ring-cavity laser is guaranteed by the seed source, which is a distributed-feedback fiber laser based on the $\pi$-phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating. The electro-optic modulator triggers active $Q$-switching of the laser for pulse generation.

Sustainability | Free Full-Text | Physical Activity Programs in Shanxi Province Schools in China: Effects of In-School and After-School Delivery on Students’ Motivational and Social Outcomes
Abstract : Effective physical activity (PA) programs may enhance students’ awareness, competence, and motivation to participate in PA in the future for their health and mental well-being. The most effective way to accomplish this is through in-school and after-school activities. However, certain obstacles (traditional ways) may prevent some students from gaining these benefits.
The expansion of newborn neurons in hippocampus improves social recognition deficit in a mouse model of autism
Introduction Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are a group of neurodevelopmental disorders mainly characterized by social interaction and communication deficits, and repetitive and stereotyped behaviors, of which social deficit is the core symptom (1). At present, the pathogenesis of ASDs is not clear. Twin study reported the heritability of ASDs as about 88–97%, indicating that the genetic factors play an important role in the etiology of the disease (2).
Diminished activity-dependent BDNF signaling differentially causes autism-like behavioral deficits in male and female mice
1. Introduction Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and interaction, and restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities [American Psychiatric Association (2013): Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition]. ASD affects 1 in 44 children with a ratio of about 1 female for every 4 males in the US (CDC: Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention).
Over 30 W single-frequency all-fiber amplifier at 1120 nm with high ASE suppression
Abstract A 1120 nm linearly polarized all-fiber single-frequency amplifier based on Yb-doped fiber (YDF) is reported. A maximum output power of 30 W is achieved by 976 nm clad-pumping and 1018 nm core-pumping, with corresponding slope efficiencies of 51.9% and 70.0%, respectively. With the 976 nm clad-pumping configuration, a signal to amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) ratio of more than 45 dB is realized at maximum output power.

Single-polarization single-frequency Brillouin fiber laser that emits almost 5 W of power at 1 µm
Abstract We demonstrate a high-power single-polarization single-frequency 1064 nm Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) that is constructed with polarization-maintaining germanium-doped fiber with a core/cladding diameter of 20/400 µm. A maximum output power of 4.9 W is achieved with a slope efficiency of 68% and an optical signal-to-noise ratio of 65 dB. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest power output from a single-frequency fiber laser.

Proinflammatory role of blister fluid‐derived exosomes in bullous pemphigoid
Bullous pemphigoid is an autoimmune inflammatory disorder characterized by the presence of autoantibodies against bullous pemphigoid autoantigens, leading to dermal–epidermal separation with consequent blister formation. However, whether and how the components of blister fluid exacerbate the progression of bullous pemphigoid is unclear. Exosomes are nanometre‐sized vesicles released from cells into the body fluid, where they can transmit signals throughout the body.
Mechanism of H adatom improving O2 reduction reaction on Zn-modified anatase TiO2 (101) surface studied by first principle calculation
The first principle calculations were performed to cast insight into the mechanism of the improvement of O2 reduction reaction (ORR) activity by Zn and H interstitials on anatase TiO2 (101) surface. For Zn-modified anatase TiO2 (101) surface, surface and subsurface Zn interstitials both could contribute to O2 adsorption and dissociation, but the dissociation barriers of O2 molecule are still too high, which limits the ORR activity.
