Vote Harder
Matt Bors December 11, 2024 After Kamala Harris’ disastrous loss, the popular social media account @TheWapplehouse posted, “sorry guys I’ll vote harder next time.” It’s a sentiment that mocks what moved from pressure to cast a ballot for a deeply flawed candidate to a very real threat — to stop protesting, fall in line and go around telling everyone everywhere to vote for Democrats with more fervor, or else we would get a Republican in charge and it would be your fault.

It's Getting Toxic!
Last year at San Diego Comic-Con I approached Lloyd Kaufman, the co-founder of Troma, about an idea I had to revive The Toxic Avenger as a comic. This year at Comic-Con we’re on a panel together to talk about the new series.
My Favorite Comics of 2023
I read a lot of comics this year. Most of them were not newly published in 2023, but enough of them were that I can construct a year-end list of my favorite. The usual caveats: I don’t keep up on everything published, this list is subjective, and I still have many 2023 books in my to-read pile that I’m looking forward to, such as Roaming by the Tamaki cousins and Three Rocks, Bill Griffith’s biography of Ernie Bushmiller.

The End of The Nib
This week is the final week of The Nib. After ten years of publication, thousands of comics, and fifteen issues of the magazine, we are shutting down. I am choosing to give it a death with dignity rather than make painful cuts and have it operate as a shadow of itself for a few more years. We have a blowout last day coming this Friday, with about four times as many comics as we usually run.

My Pitch to Turn The Postman Into a Graphic Novel
In 2020, there was a series of crises—you may remember this—and in the summer leading up to the president election, The Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a corrupt Republican fundraiser and business man, intentionally slowed down the mail. I did one of my post-apocalyptic political cartoons about it and referenced The Postman, the 1997 movie Kevin Costner. Someone online responded to the comic telling me I had to read the original 1985 novel by David Brin, which, they assured me, was Actually Good.

Matt Bors Returns to Cartooning
Home / Section: Alternative comics Matt Bors Returns to Cartooning Posted by D. D. Degg February 15, 2022 Matt Bors is returning to comics, not political cartooning, rather comic books. When Matt announced last year his stepping back from political cartooning he was … making some space in my life for other kinds of comics that I’m excited about but have never had the time to fully pursue.
Back to the Drawing Board
In 2007, at the age of twenty-four, I went to the Mayflower Hotel, in Washington, DC, to attend the fiftieth annual gathering of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. It was my first time there; I’d been invited as part of a cohort of about ten young people, an outreach by old-timers to the next generation. Newspapers were declining, and the AAEC was interested in how our profession could make money on the internet.

I’m Quitting Political Cartooning
After 18 years and more than 1,600 political cartoons, I’ve decided to retire my weekly comic. This is a decision long in the making, one I’ve slowly walked myself up to over the years, and have recently decided is time to commit to. My last cartoon was two weeks ago.
