Paul Westhead receives NBCA lifetime achievement award

The National Basketball Coaches Association named Paul Westhead as its 2026 Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award winner, it was announced Friday. Westhead, who is the only head coach with both an NBA and WNBA title, was a head coach or an assistant for 38 years at the NBA, WNBA, NCAA and international basketball levels. Westhead was an NBA head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers (1979-82), Chicago Bulls (1982-82) and Denver Nuggets (1990-92).

Four ex-Alabama St. players paid to fix game in 2024

Four players on the 2024-25 Alabama State men’s basketball team committed sports betting integrity violations, the NCAA announced on Friday. Amarr Knox, Shawn Fulcher, Corey Hines and Tony Madlock engaged in game manipulation on Dec. 5, 2024, when Southern Miss, a six-point favorite, pulled away in the second half and defeated the Hornets, 81-64. In NCAA enforcement staff interviews with Knox, he reported that Fulcher put the four players in a group chat with known bettors.
