Environmental stochasticity modulates trait matching, indirect effects, and resilience in adaptive mutualistic networks
Introduction Global environmental change is rapidly reshaping ecosystems by altering species distributions, interaction patterns, and evolutionary trajectories (Parmesan and Yohe 2003, Tylianakis et al. 2008, Hoffmann and Sgrò 2011, Pecl et al. 2017, Ummenhofer and Meehl 2017, Sales et al. 2021, Antão et al. 2022).
The industry–energy–population triple transformation and its pathways to environmental sustainability
Abstract With global climate action lagging behind and record-breaking heat waves occurring with increasing frequency, China’s role in achieving the temperature control targets of the Paris Agreement has become increasingly critical. As the world’s largest carbon emitter, the pace, trajectory, and regional variations of China’s structural transformation will profoundly influence the global process of deep decarbonization.
Association of MRI-defined total burden of cerebral small vessel disease with multiple kidney function measures in older adults: a cross-sectional study
|
Abstract Whether cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) burden correlates with kidney dysfunction in older adults remains uncertain. In this cross-sectional study with prospective recruitment and concurrent data collection, 239 older adults underwent brain MRI and kidney assessment. Total CSVD score (0–4) combined severe white matter hyperintensities, lacunes, deep microbleeds, and moderate-to-severe enlarged basal ganglia perivascular spaces.

Correlation between prognostic nutritional index and oral mucositis in patients with lung adenocarcinoma treated with almonertinib: a multicenter prospective study
Abstract Oral mucositis (OM) is a common adverse reaction to epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs), and severe cases can impair patient compliance and quality of life. The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) comprehensively reflects an individual’s nutritional and immune status and has been applied in lung cancer prognosis studies. However, its relationship with treatment-related OM associated with EGFR-TKI remains unclear.
Effects of single-modality sensory stimulation on brain function in patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness: a near-infrared spectroscopy-based study
Abstract Objective: To explore the effects of four single-modality sensory stimulations on the brain functional networks in patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness (pDOC), and to clarify the correlation between different sensory stimulations and the improvement of patients’ consciousness level, so as to provide references for clinical treatment and rehabilitation of pDOC patients. Methods: A prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial design was adopted.
Mechanism of BaP- regulated hepatic lipid metabolism via AhR activation and AR modulation
Abstract Objective: Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) is a ubiquitous environmental pollutant that disturbs hepatic lipid metabolism. The androgen receptor (AR) protects hepatic lipid homeostasis, but whether BaP interferes with AR nuclear translocation through aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) activation to cause metabolic disorders remains unknown in vivo and in vitro. This study aimed to clarify BaP-mediated regulation of AR signaling and its dependence on the AhR pathway during hepatic lipid metabolism.
Gene regulatory networks orchestrating oocyte fate bifurcation in primordial follicles revealed by single-cell transcriptomics
Abstract The first wave of primordial follicle activation occurs around postnatal day 2.5 (P2.5), with the remaining follicles entering a dormant state to ensure a continuous supply of fertilizable oocytes. However, the molecular characterization and underlying mechanisms of this critical fate commitment remain poorly understood.
Lactate reprograms PGE2 metabolism via GPR81 inhibits COX2 to relieved psoriasis
Abstract Psoriasis is an autoimmune skin disease whose precise pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. This study uncovered a critical role of lactate-induced metabolic reprogramming via GPR81 in the development of imiquimod-induced murine psoriasis. The activation of the lactate receptor GPR81 was found to be essential for reducing prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), a known lipid marker associated inflammation.
Multilevel functional network signature of Pisa syndrome in Parkinson’s disease: a resting-state fMRI study
|
Abstract Background: Pisa syndrome (PS) is a disabling postural complication of Parkinson’s disease (PD), but its functional network basis remains insufficiently defined. The aim of this study is to determine whether PD with PS is associated with multilevel resting-state functional network abnormalities beyond differences in motor severity. Methods: We studied 31 patients with PD and PS and 42 patients with PD without PS using resting-state fMRI.

Rapid rescue of despair behaviors by sonogenetic neuromodulation of the mPFC-DRN pathway
Abstract Sonogenetics combines genetic tools and low-intensity ultrasound to non-invasively modulate specific neuronal populations and circuits, exhibiting potential for treating brain diseases. This study examines sonogenetics’ potential in a mouse depression model, targeting excitatory medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) neurons projecting to the dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN).
Integration of transcriptomics and gut microbiomics reveals walnut septum polyphenols alleviate HFD-induced lipid disorders
Abstract Walnut septum, an underutilized agricultural by-product, exhibits anti-obesity potential. However, the in vivo hypolipidemic mechanisms of walnut septum polyphenols (WSP) remain unexplored. We investigated the effects of WSP on lipid metabolism in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice using integrated transcriptomic and gut microbiomic analyses.

Playing politics with traffic fines: Sheriff elections and political cycles in traffic fines revenue
Researchers in political science, economics, and public policy have documented that politicians engage in opportunistic behavior by strategically timing their policy decisions around elections to influence voters’ choices. These decisions include, for instance, expansionary monetary policies before an election to temporarily boost economic activity or popular budgetary measures, such as increasing spending or cutting taxes, to appeal to their constituents’ preferences.
