Real-world effectiveness of first-line chemoimmunotherapy versus chemotherapy in older adults with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer: an inverse probability treatment weighted analysis
ABSTRACT Aims First-line chemoimmunotherapy (ICI-chemo) has become the standard of care for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). However, older adults are underrepresented in pivotal trials due to strict inclusion criteria that limit participation to highly selected, fit patients. Given the limited real-world comparative data, this study aimed to determine whether older adults with ES-SCLC derive greater benefit from ICI-chemo compared with chemotherapy (chemo) alone.

Targeting an IL-17/IL-36 pathogenic hub in hidradenitis suppurativa with a bispecific antibody
|
Abstract Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder with a high unmet need, particularly for treatment-resistant tunnels. Integrated multiomics analysis revealed that HS tunnels are spatially organized, self-amplifying inflammatory circuits driven by synergistic IL-17/IL-36γ activation of a unique keratinocyte subset, which activates neutrophils and inflammatory fibroblasts.

A nonlinear controller for AHU systems based on prescribed time control
Abstract This paper develops an adaptive practical prescribed-time controller for simultaneous humidity and temperature regulation of an air handling unit (AHU) subject to bounded non-vanishing disturbances. Under the admissible cooling/dehumidification operating conditions, the Lyapunov analysis shows that the output-tracking errors enter an explicitly bounded residual set no later than \(T=T^{*}-\epsilon <T^{*}\) and remain uniformly ultimately bounded thereafter.

Evaluating walkability and vitality in cold-region historic districts of China via street view semantics and SHAP
Abstract As historic districts undergo sustainable urban regeneration, enhancing walkability is important for supporting local vitality. However, conventional walkability evaluation frameworks often emphasize openness and may not fully account for the climate-adaptive characteristics of compact spatial configurations in severe cold regions. Moreover, traditional linear models may overlook nonlinear and threshold-like relationships between micro-scale built environments and population vitality.
Dual-modality modeling for depression detection using speech signals
Abstract Depression is a leading contributor to the global burden of disease and a significant barrier to both personal well-being and societal development. Yet, it remains underdiagnosed, primarily due to social stigma and limited access to clinical resources. This study proposes a dual-modality framework for automated depression detection using speech signals, capturing both what individuals say (text) and how they say it (vocal cues) from speech recordings.

This study aimed to evaluate the associations between lifestyle behaviors and PPWR among women with prior GDM living in southwestern China.
Host-derived lactic acid disrupts IFN efficacy via antiviral inhibition and proinflammatory amplification
|
Abstract Circulating emerging viruses endanger public health. Type I interferons (IFNs) confer robust preclinical antiviral efficacy yet face incompletely defined clinical hurdles: narrow therapeutic windows, suboptimal activity and severe adverse events. Herein, we show that IFNs confer antiviral protection exclusively upon pre-infection administration.
