The $50,000 request went before the Normal Town Council Monday night, and council members unanimously agreed to buy first responder equipment from Flock Safety. Flock is the same tech company that supplies the department with automated license plate reading cameras.

PEORIA (25News Now) - Central Illinois dealt with a stressful afternoon Thursday in the form of consistent tornado warnings and at least one powerful twister caught on camera. Washburn had damaged homes and dozens of destroyed, damaged or downed trees. In Morton, trees also felt the impact of strong winds. And our 25News crew saw multiple examples of neighbors - even strangers - offering to help with chainsaws and building debris piles. Eastside Bible Church also appeared to have some roof damage.
