When a business changes hands, be that through a Management Buyout (MBO), an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), or a small to medium-sized transaction, funding the change in ownership can sometimes be a challenge. A possible solution to this is a ‘vendor loan’. In this article, we explain what vendor loans are, why they are used, and the benefits they offer. We also explore how they compare to other financing solutions, and the ways they can support sellers and buyers during a business transition.
