The primary election will decide party nominees and the special election will fill the vacant Independent At-Large seat on the D.C. Council. For many voters, the June ballot will double the size of the 2024 general election ballot. That's partially because of the new ranked choice voting (RCV) system being implemented in all D.C. elections.

Poll: Lewis George leads DC Mayoral race, but ranked-choice voting could help McDuffie

WASHINGTON (7News) — Councilmember Janeese Lewis George holds a five-point lead over Kenyan McDuffie in Washington's Democratic mayoral primary, according to the first citywide public poll of the race. The City Cast survey found Lewis George is the first choice of 39% of Democratic voters, compared to 34% for McDuffie. No other candidate topped 7%, and 24% of voters remain undecided.
