(News 10) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has identified shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations as the source of a cyclosporiasis outbreak across five Midwest states. The CDC is warning people not to eat shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. Taco Bell’s supplier, Taylor Farms, announced it is pulling its iceberg lettuce from shelves in response.

Michigan cyclospora infections climb; here’s what to know about getting tested

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) - More than 3,700 cyclospora infections have been identified in Michigan as of July 15, and the number continues to climb each day. The parasite is carried by food and water contaminated with feces. Symptoms include frequent diarrhea, abdominal cramps and loss of appetite, which can take up to two weeks to appear. How to get tested Unlike salmonella or E. coli, testing for cyclospora requires a special-order PCR test.
