Highlights Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have pleiotropic effects on human health, linked to the endocrine system. PFASs have been associated with male and female reproductive disorders, such as: infertility, endometriosis, and polycystic ovary syndrome. Various conditions in early childhood are linked to exposure to PFASs in utero. PFASs have been found to disrupt thyroid function and hormone synthesis. Dyslipidemia is an important metabolic disorder associated with PFAS exposure.
