Robust inference and correlates from genetic associations with personality
Abstract Personality traits describe stable differences in how people think, feel and behave, and how they interact with and experience their social and physical environments1,2. Many questions remain unanswered about associations between DNA and personality traits, such as their robustness, their generalizability and the biological and social pathways through which they act.

Journal of Sleep Research | ESRS Journal | Wiley Online Library
1 Introduction Sleep plays a crucial role in human functioning (Grandner 2022). Decades of research have linked sleep deprivation to cardiovascular health (Cincin et al. 2015) and anxiety and depression (Alvaro et al. 2013; Riemann et al. 2001). To improve sleep, it is important to understand the psychological factors that influence it. Meta-analyses have investigated the relations between normative personality traits and sleep (Ren et al. 2025, under review).

psudo: Exploring Multi-Channel Biomedical Image Data with Spatially and Perceptually Optimized Pseudocoloring
Abstract Over the past century, multichannel fluorescence imaging has been pivotal in myriad scientific breakthroughs by enabling the spatial visualization of proteins within a biological sample. With the shift to digital methods and visualization software, experts can now flexibly pseudocolor and combine image channels, each corresponding to a different protein, to explore their spatial relationships.

Pangenome analysis provides insight into the evolution of the orange subfamily and a key gene for citric acid accumulation in citrus fruits - Nature Genetics
Abstract The orange subfamily (Aurantioideae) contains several Citrus species cultivated worldwide, such as sweet orange and lemon. The origin of Citrus species has long been debated and less is known about the Aurantioideae. Here, we compiled the genome sequences of 314 accessions, de novo assembled the genomes of 12 species and constructed a graph-based pangenome for Aurantioideae.
A review of approaches and models in psychopathology conceptualization research - Nature Reviews Psychology
Abstract Mental disorder classification provides a definitional framework that underlies applied clinical and research efforts to understand, assess, predict, prevent and ameliorate the burden of psychopathology. Many classification frameworks exist, perhaps most notable being the ‘authoritative’ systems of the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases.

Linking genetic foundations of sleep disturbances to personality traits: a study of mid‐life twins
1 INTRODUCTION Healthy sleep should be high in quality and free of disturbances—namely perceived as smooth, uninterrupted, and restorative (Buysse, 2014). Subjective sleep disturbances are consequential as they are a robust indicator of psychopathology, a common symptom of mental disorders, and a marker of physical health (Buysse, 2014; Krystal & Edinger, 2008). As a result, it is important to understand individual risk factors for poor sleep, as well as probe underlying aetiological connections.

Rethinking mental disorder diagnosis: Data-driven psychological dimensions, not categories, as a framework for mental health research, treatment, and training
Generations of psychologists have been taught that mental disorder can be carved into discrete categories, each qualitatively different from the others and from normality. This model is now outdated. A preponderance of evidence tells us that (a) individual differences in mental health versus illness are a matter of degree, not kind; and (b) broad mental health conditions (e.g., thought disorder) account for the tendency of narrower ones (e.g., hallucinations, delusions, paranoia) to co-occur.

Assessment of the Harmful Psychiatric and Behavioral Effects of Different Forms of Child Maltreatment
Importance Several widely held beliefs about child abuse and neglect may be incorrect. Meta-analysis of Genome-wide Association Studies for Neuroticism, and the Polygenic Association With Major Depressive Disorder
Importance Neuroticism is a pervasive risk factor for psychiatric conditions. It genetically overlaps with major depressive disorder (MDD) and is therefore an important phenotype for psychiatric genetics. The Genetics of Personality Consortium has created a resource for genome-wide association analyses of personality traits in more than 63?000 participants (including MDD cases).
How better definitions of mental disorders could aid diagnosis and treatment
Mental disorders are currently defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), which includes hundreds of distinct diagnostic categories, but a new study we worked on suggests we could do better. Each category in the DSM has a checklist of criteria. If you meet “enough” (often, just over half) of these criteria, you are placed in that diagnostic category.
Sex gets better in older age
Aging is generally associated with improvements in our quality of life: We become more proficient in our work, learn how to manage our finances better, and our bonds with loved ones deepen. With time and practice, most of the core domains of our lives improve as we develop skills and strategies to manage our lives with more mastery. An exception to this pattern is the quality of our sex lives, which has consistently been reported to deteriorate with age.
