LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Former Las Cruces Police Officer Felipe Hernandez took the stand Wednesday in his own defense, marking the first time the public has heard directly from him since the 2023 shooting death of Teresa Gomez. Before the defense rested, Hernandez’s attorney asked if he wished he had done anything differently that night. Hernandez told jurors he did not, saying he feared for his safety and believed he had no choice but to use deadly force.
