LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Lynchburg Commonwealth's Attorney Bethany Harrison issued a statement on Friday to Lynchburg Police Chief Kennith Edwards regarding the new gun legislation that will go into effect on July 1, indicating that she will not enforce the laws. The statement is in regard to the SB 749/HB 217 Assault Weapons Ban and the SB 727/HB 1524 Public Carry Ban.

Missouri couple will spend decades behind bars for grooming, sexually abusing VA teen

(WSET) — A married couple was handed down lengthy prison sentences on Friday for grooming a teenager online before picking her up in Virginia and repeatedly sexually abusing her as they drove back to their home in Missouri. On June 12, 41-year-old Justin Johiah Curtright was sentenced to 45 years in federal prison. His wife, 33-year-old Christin Marie Curtright, was sentenced to 27 years.
