Clay, N.Y. — Athletes entered through a pathway lined with supporters yelling, holding signs, and offering high fives, energizing competitors for one of Liverpool’s marquee athletic events. The 4th Annual Olympiad at the ‘Pool spotlights athletes of all abilities in the Liverpool Central School District. Student and staff volunteers ran events including an obstacle course, long jump and 50-yard dash, and led cooperative games with recreational parachutes.

Syracuse Police get sweet revenge against the Fire Department in charity basketball showdown (photos)

Syracuse, N.Y. — Squeaks of sneakers and cheers replaced radios and sirens for one night of intense competition between the Syracuse police and fire departments. For the second consecutive year, the Syracuse Police and Fire departments faced each other in the Bravest vs. Finest basketball game to benefit the United Way of Central New York. The game returned last year after a five-year hiatus. The Syracuse City fire and police departments faced off on the hardwood to raise money for the United Way.

The free public festival, presented by Honest Engine Films, took place Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the OCC quad at 4585 West Seneca Turnpike in Syracuse.
