Identifying viable synthetic routes from side channels in automated reaction-path searches
Abstract Automated reaction-path search methods based on quantum chemical calculations from a single equilibrium structure have revolutionized the exploration of chemical reaction networks, uncovering numerous unexpected and often computationally imaginary side pathways. Although these routes have traditionally often been dismissed as unrealistic or mere byproduct-formation pathways, they represent an untapped source of novel synthetic information.

Physical education is important for academic success - here’s how it benefits kids’ cognition
By Simon Cooper, Professor in Physical Activity and Health, Nottingham Trent University There were 45,000 fewer hours of physical education (PE) delivered in UK schools during the last academic year compared to 15 years ago. This is concerning, given how important PE and physical activity are not only for children’s physical health, but their cognitive health too. As the new school year begins, it’s essential that PE hours in UK schools aren’t further cut given its importance for academic success.

Motor coordination mediates the relationship between physical activity and executive function among preschoolers
ABSTRACT This cross-sectional study is to examine the association between motor coordination (MC) and executive function (EF) sub-domains and to test whether MC would mediate the effect on the association between different physical activity (PA) intensities and EF sub-domains. Following ethical approval, 401 preschoolers (boys 52%; 4.75 ± 0.77 years) were recruited for this study. The device measured PA with different intensities was assessed via wearing accelerometry for 7 days.

Locale changes in Elasticsearch 8.16 and JDK 23
With the upcoming release of JDK 23, there are some significant changes in locale information that will affect Elasticsearch and how you ingest and format datetime data. Firstly, a bit of background.
